My settings that I put into CS:S (resolution, texture quality, ect.) won't stay put. I'll change them, hit Apply and play fine. But when I go to open up CS:S again they're gone. It's back to 600x800. What's funny is that my name is still the same, my spray and my keyboard settings.

I've tried deleteing the BLOB file.

Any suggestions?

Your config.cfg file is probably read-only. This prevents settings such as player name and sprays from being changed.

Basically, the game defaults to whatever settings it had when the file was write-protected.

It's not read-only, just checked it.

Anymore suggestions?

This happened to me when I had -dxlevel in the command line. I just removed it from the command line and added the mat_dxlevel to my autoexec.cfg

Hope it helps :)

Yea, that fixed it. With the DX command in the command line messed it up for some reason. Now I have another provlem though. The commands I type in the console don't stay. Things like mat_specular 0 (turns off specular lighting) and all the "loss/ping lowering" commands don't stay... everytime I go in, I have to re-type them wich is a big pain because I have a lot of the commands.

Anything to make them stay and not reset?

Im not sure if anything you type in the console will stay once you restart your computer. You can just add the commands to your autoexec.cfg and then they should load up every time you start.

PS out of curiosity what do the extra commands do for your loss/ping do they make a big difference if so can you post the commands as Id like to give them a try.

Yes just open notepad and type in the commands you want to install when steam starts up.
Save it as a file called autoexec.cfg and save it in your .cfg folder

Im not 100% sure but if you add this at the end then it will confirm in the console that its loaded up.

echo
loaded autoexec.cfg
echo

No probs I new nothing about scripts till a month ago and the members on here helped me out then. This is another useful link that has a handy buy script generator that you can paste into your autoexec to enable you to rebuy certain weapon combos at the press of a button

Also you can use the mat_savechanges command if you don't want to create a cfg file. :)
