So, had 20 bucks, and decided to go spend it, since I can't save anything.
I go to target, and look at the discout games (19.99! OMG!) And see two games I might like: God of War, and SotC, Unfortunately, GoW is M so that one can't be boughten by me, so I got shadow. And, what an awesome 20$ that was. The story is horrible, and makes no since.. (might flesh out letter on, not sure! D: ) Music is awesome, fights are awesome, visuals are awesome, traveling is gay, and I frequently get lost trying to get to the next collosi. Its like: Travel, Boss battle, travel, boss battle.
SO FUN. The first collosi gave me the goosebumps. The flying one was freaking awesome(duh).

Anyone else have it?

It's one of the best and most cinematic games ever made. If you haven't played ICO, which was done by the same team, I highly suggest looking for a copy.

Yup, one of the most hauntingly beautiful games ever made. One of the few games to actually make me feel as lonely as the character on his quest. Incredible talent on that dev team...can't wait to see what they cook up for the PS3!!!

It's an amazing feeling when hanging onto a huge colossus. AcePilot, you should get Ico too if you don't have it already.

Spot on. It's like Zelda, but minus the happy colors, music, towns, people, and general cartoon-ish feel. I still love both in their own respects though.

And: He doesn't have blond hair.
It isnt an RPG at all!
The horse is black.. D:!

Know anywhere I can get Ico?

this is one title i wish i had played before i sold my ps2 :(

my friend and i anticipated this game for a long time... it looked amazing. I do agree the story line is crazy... but if you play i think its called "icho" , it will fall together better. I have never played a game where you become so immeresed.. the giant colossus are amazing to conquer.. and better yet, the way you control your character is stunning.

The soundtrack keeps ya pumped and can change the mood of your gameplay in a heartbeat. I loved every minute of it!

PEACE

Mikey:cheers:

When you actually did things it was awesome. When you were watching cutscenes and walking/riding from one place to the next without anything happening ever was the lamest experience in my video gaming life.

The funnest one to take down was the sand dune one... hly crap, I ran around until I realized how to do it. The water one was cool to take down.. and the lil one that was afraid of fire was awesome...
HE WAS JUST MISUNDERSTOOD.. aww..

Ugh I need to get caught up on PS2 games...

I played about half of God of War, no GoW2, Ico, SotC, or Okami. :(

You should play Ace combat 5 too..
Or if you just want no squadmates, and all your friendlies are extremely underpowered, and will maybe get 1 kill in the entire game, youll want to get AC4.. or BOTH.

Its a greatest hits... look in that pile.

One of the best games i have ever played. Amazing!

Great, great game. I thought the story was brilliant, although tbh you don't really find out what is going on until you see the ending. If you had played Ico, though, you'd have a sense for the dev team's storytelling and come to realise that little things (like the shadows, the anxious woman's voice you half hear after killing a colossus) point to an ominous story twist coming up.

BTW if you are hunting for Ico and you have a chipped PS2, try to get a non-US version because the box art is so much better. The box art for the US version is really horrible.

Chipped? All I know is that my PS2 was gotten back when it came out.. D:!

I have it, but haven't finished it yet. I killed the first four colossi the night I bought it and haven't played it since. I'll play finish it after I finish Metroid Prime (which I never finished). It's weird...the game brings out an odd emotion in you. I felt kind of sad killing the colossi I did, since they seem to be the only living creatures in that land.

Trust me, one of them makes you go, 'Oh.. its just a lil puppy dog! aww..'

I am going to borrow my mate's PS2 and play Okami, Ico (and wasn't there an Ico 2?), SotC and Canus Canem Edit.

I felt the same way, in a way. The music that plays as each one crumbles to the ground is both epic and remorseful. It almost felt like they were making a sacrifice for you (even though they ummm...tried to kill you at the same time).

In lamens terms, all of the colossi seemed like big retard babies or something, and you felt bad for them.

Politically incorrect? Yeah. True? Hell yeah.

What I meant by chipped was if you have means of playing import games on your PS2. Otherwise just get the US version if you can find it, it's just that the box art ruins the imagery a bit.

Great idea, you won't regret it.

There was no Ico 2, but there was going to be at one point (called 'Nico'). To all intents and purposes SotC is Ico 2, except that it is set prior to Ico. They are also very different types of games, but the atmosphere and feel of them is similar.

Then no, I don't think it is chipped :p

I looked on amazon and apparently an unopened one goes for 84$.. D:

Same thing happened to me, only $20 and I had to choose between God of War 1 and SotC, my Dad was with me, so I could've bought GOW, but I already played and beat it, so I got SotC, like you.

Best boss is the sand-flying thing. You gotta jump off your horse moving at top speed, c'mon! Freakin sweet!

Same! You copying bastard!

Holy crap...! They still stock it in some central London stores (although it's usually imported or 2nd hand). The fact that I never see the European version any more led me to believe that maybe it was easier to find across the water. Guess not... Well worth playing though.

4 EB stores later I now own SotC.. and I suck at it! I got it for $25AU and aside from a tiny bit of damage on one corner of the box thingy it's perfect.

The game was delicious....f**king pure awesomness.

One of the best memories of playing through it was just the trek of getting to the stab point on the collossi(sp??). Just epic. Favorite PS2 game.

The coolest part was first seeing one. its all.. 'Holy crap... ITS THAT BIG? AND THIS IS JUST THE FIRST ONE!?!?!'

When I saw the first one here's what I thought: "Awwwwww yea, this is gonna be a f*cking EPIC BATTLE! AWESOME! AHHH!!". The "AHHH!!" part is when I made my character run at the colossus, I love how you gotta shoot the arrow to make him stumble and everthing, pure awesome-ness. I still think there should be more weapons/creatures though. And by creatures I mean bosses. And by bosses I mean Colossuses.. (I don't know how to spell colossie or whatever it is).

One point of notice though: The end boss SUCKS. Worst end boss in the history of games. So terrible..

I thought the one boss in that fortress was the last (he climbs up the hill, and you have to jump from the top of the fortress to get on him), it was just an epic battle, and he was so tall and cool.

He didn't even move! It's like he wore a big stone dress, the only challenge was staying on his head (which he seemed to move ALOT)..

Like I said, most epic/best battle was the flying thing that dove into the sand, and you needed to jump off of your MOVING HORSE to get on it's wing. That was the best, most epic battle in the game. Awesome. THAT thing should have been last boss!

I thought the fact that he couldn't even move added to his awesomeness - like he was so dangerous that not only had he been encased in his own special little arena, but he'd also been nailed to the spot and had some kind of building put around him too. Having said that, I only ever played through once on Hard mode, so the last one moved around lots and killed me loads and really seemed as badass as he was meant to. Also, I think that one's called the Sorcerer..? Or something similar - so the big stone dress/cape thing kind of fits.
But I do agree that the flying one was epic. Only thing was,
if you think about it it never attacks you!
Which makes killing it kind of sad.

My favourites were probably the penultimate one and the one in the water with the laser horns. The journey to get to the latter one was so damn beautiful and he looked cool as hell.

The one in that fortress was pretty cool, too (he climbs over the cliff, and you have to get to the top bridge thing to jump on him). It's good he was one of the last, I wouldn't have complained if he was last (although there were better candidates for last boss).

But the worst boss, IMO, was

That lizard that climbed on the wall, and you had to shoot if off, and stab it's belly. It wouldn't have been so bad, but it wasn't even a colossi, it was way too small. Same goes for the bull thing, although that was an alright battle.

My favorites were

The one where you had to grab onto his beard, and the sand-dragon thing.

Does anyone here use a component cable with their PS2/HDTV and have this game, how does it look?
