Hello and welcome to the first official SotC appreciation thread! Inspired by the Operation Flashpoint appreciation thread, I have created this thread to appreciate the ethereal beauty of SotC. A friend of mine lent it to me, and it was quite simply one of the most beautiful games I've ever played. I even bought the SotC Soundtrack, called "Roar of the Earth". A cheesy title yes, but the soundtrack was one of the best I've heard in a game).

So if I may recount my favorites escapades.
Scariest fight: Hydrus the Thunder Ripple. They do indeed have names, you can find them on Wikipedia. To most though, he was the Giant Electric Catfish. Just swimming in the black depths of that lake, only to see a flash and the sillouette (sp?) of that monstrous creature illuminated before you was quite frightening.

Most beautiful boss: Phalanx the Traildrifter (i.e. the Sky Snake). Just watching that creature, a half mile long from nose to tail just wending his way through the desert sky was the most beautiful thing ever.

Most epic fight (SPOILERS!): Appropriately, the final boss at the end, who can only be described as a Man-Mountain. The wind is howling, rain is falling horizontally, and your character's clothes, ripped and soiled from previous fights, are billowing in the wind. Forks of jagged lightning split the sky, and the towering colossus stands over you. You reach its feet, dodging the bolts of energy it shoots at you, and begin the perilous ascent. You stab its back, black blood GUSHING over you (seriously I mean like hyper Kill Bill-style gushing), and it reaches back to swipe you off. Then you leap into its hand. It stares at you with its inhuman eyes, and you leap to its other hand and climb to the head, before plunging your sword through its skull.

Anyone caring to share your favorite aspects or moments from the game, this is the thread.

Indeed a very nice game, I bought it the minute it got released a few months ago, the ending was also awesome.

It is an incredible game. It has a surprisingly large amount of replay value too. Difficult to say which was the best ... although I'm partial to the flying ones.

I just loved stabbing them in the head and holding on for dear life. Great fun.

Best game ever where you spend half the fights just holding on. A reviewer actually joked it was the most exciting mountain-climbing sim he'd ever played.

Also the ending where you find out who exactly your character is and what he's done is awesome.

i jsut downloaded the game, what the heck am i supposed to do? the first guy is the minotaur, but i cant even climb up, because my character gets too tired to hang on, is there a technique for this game?

Against the minotaur, there's a platform on the small of his back. Climb up and rest there to regain your strength, before making the rest of the climb to the top of his head. Many bosses have "safe spots" on them where you can rest and recover. Valus the Minotaur is the least interesting of the bosses. They get progressively awesomer as you move on...
