Shadows not casting

Not really sure where to put this topic, so put it in this more general area.

In Garrys mod, if I use a dynamic light, or my flash light, it doesn't cast shadows behind objects. Not sure if this is to do with the engine or the map or just something else...

Any ideas? How do I create shadows without making/editing a map. :(

yes source engine doesnt support dynamic shadowing unlike the doom 3 engine does but source 2 will use it and will be used with hl2:episode 2
 
Can this be done making a map then? Casting the shadows.
 
No it dosn't support it, however it may support it with episode 2.
 
I made some tests. Something *must* be happened to the engine.. check these screenshots out:

< npcs and crate cast shadows, other objects don't
< after loading a quicksave, npc's shadows are gone




in a different bsp:

< npc with shadow
< npcs without
< object with shadow
< objects without
< objects AND npc casting shadows normally
 
theres is nothing wrong with the engine shadows just dont cast on certain brushes/surfaces
 
how do you explain the differences between the first and the second screenshot, then?

(i'm talking about the zombie's shadow)
