Officials in Florida say a veteran 40-year-old trainer at SeaWorld was fatally injured by a whale when she slipped and fell in its tank.

The incident happened during a Dining with Shamu event.

Spectator Victoria Biniak told WKMG-TV that the trainer had just finished explaining to the audience a show they were about to see Wednesday when the whale appeared to grab the trainer and thrash her around.

Look at those eyes, I am sure Shamu is the serial killer among Killer Whales.
 
The killer whale that killed the trainer at Seaworld was named Tilikum, not Shamu. It's the 3rd time this killer whale was involved with killing a human. The first was in 1991, the second time was in 1999 & now 2010. The killer whale had a known violent history.

Very sad.

Now. Anyone want an Orca steak? I'll start up the barbie, you bring the beer.

You keep a wolf of the sea trapped in a small area, forcing him to do tricks... having to deal with all the people and stuff.

You can't be surprised if that whale has some behavioral problems... maybe even some type of animal and anxiety that he saw an opportunity to lash out with.

Sucks so much somebody had to die, but people can't be surprised that this is possible.
 
Shoot it. Whales are intelligent creatures, and I respect their right to life. However, rights mean responcabilties...

Until we find an underwater Large Hadron Collider I maintain that whales are not intelligent.

And if we find one, I want proof that it was built by whales and not giant squids.
 
I think we can all agree that Killer Whales are a clear and present threat to the international community and that we must take actions to rectify this threat.
