So it's been just under a week since I came back. Went on the first week of July to Chicago for a wedding, then to Wisconsin Dells (amusement park city).
The wedding (of my cousin) was pretty meh but at least I caught up with some relatives and tried a few new beers. We were at the Dells for about 4 days and we only went on 2 dry rides (and almost all the wet ones). That included the largest roller coaster they had which got the best of my shins (and lungs). We rented a car, we were expecting a Nissan Altima but got a Dodge Charger.

Pics!

Not that recent I guess, but I'd like to contribute! Went to Fraser Island in Australia for some camping earlier this year, was a blast! (quite a few pics, mostly wildlife :>)

The island is completely made of sand!

What the **** is with the scary ass spiders in AUSTRALIA? Also that lizard is badass.

Wow that's some beautiful country. I love camping, we don't have anything quite like that around here though!

Once I'm on my laptop I'll post some pictures from my trip to Belize and Guatemala from a couple years ago, that was the last major vacation I had besides just going to the beach or whatnot.

The only trip I've taken this year is to my mailbox and back. The temperature right now almost always goes over the three-digit mark where I live. Not even keeping yourself hydrated will do you any good if you're out there in the sweltering heat. Before long, dizziness begins to take over. At the moment, a camping trip of any kind would be a bad idea, and I'm not really into out-of-state vacations. I'm jealous of you fellows.

Those Australia pics are awesome. I don't normally travel at all except for boring conferences. But on Monday I get to go to California (Santa Barbara & SF), half work and half vacation. I'll try to remember a camera. (Along with not traveling, I never really take pics either.)

I have been to Jordan and Israel earlier in the year. Pics here. I'll be going to Vienna in November and I plan to go to Asia early next year. Not sure where yet. It is either gonna be northwest India or Laos.

No pics, but was in Bath (in England) last week on work experience at PC Gamer. Lovely town, small and quiet, but really lovely.

Bring your own...air.

Last weekend I went Go Karting. Came second!

This week I'm going for a Balti and some much deserved drinks! :D

Hey morgs, great photos of the wildlife there. I'm surprised you didn't see any Dingoes? That island is covered in them. I'm sure why I don't visit Fraser more often, it's literally an hour or two away from me.

Well, it's not very recent, but I went to Japan for three weeks in February. It was absolutely stunning. I went from Osaka, to Kyoto to Sapporo (the north island of Hokkaido) back down to Tokyo, then back to Kyoto and finally Osaka once more. That's not to exclude the many small and full of heart towns I visited along the way. The people were so lovely, and helpful. Visited heaps of Onsens (hot springs) in which I saw some Yakuza! Went to heaps of Ice/Snow Festivals, stayed in a potato inn for their 20th anniversary (in which I'm in the photo as the only white man, sticking out like a sore thumb). Saw some geisha! I managed to appear on Tokyo TV even. I could continue to rave and use exclamation marks but I'll save it for another time. I should've made a thread about it. I've got some stunningly beautiful ones taken on my friend's camera, but I'll yet to get them off her. Would anyone be concerned if I made a thread about it later with a full gamut of photos? For now, here's a sample of some photos taken on my crappy iphone.

Tokyo.jpg

A shopping district in Harajuku, Tokyo. Heaps of crepe stalls, great second hand clothes shops.

Akihabara.jpg

The geek district in Tokyo, Akihabara. Heaps of black market electronics, figurines stores (many dedicated entirely to hentai figurines), and also maid cafes...

AMaidinJapan.jpg

I'm sure Vegeta would love this. In Akiba there's heaps of girls in cosplay lining the streets with phamplets advertising their cafes. You go in there, pay a fee and get served by the girls as they raise their voice several octaves and roleplay. I went to a cat/french maid one, was very decent. Was going to try another but it cost like $100 just for some meals and like a hour limit. It also was full of sleazy businessmen getting very touchy feely that I wouldn't want to put on my accompanying female friends.

Hakodate.jpg

A beautiful portside town by the name of Hakodate. The gateway to the frostbitten north island of Hokkaido. This was taken from my hotel window. Later on we went up to the top of the mountain and saw the whole expanse. If I get those other photos I'll show you, it was stunning.

SnowSculpture.jpg

A snow sculpture in Sapporo, at the ice festival. This festival was rather commercialized, but still beats the ballpark out of anything I've been to here in terms of culture. Heaps of different nationalities, great food, great beer.

Lake.jpg

Lake Shikotsu. Possibly the most beautiful place I've ever been to. It's adjacent to a national park that was inaccessible due to the snow. I stayed at an onsen hotel on the lake edge, in which you could sit in a volcanic hot spring whilst overlooking this view. I watched the sun rise over this lake. Life was pretty much perfect (except getting out and running to the hotel door naked in -10 degrees celsius weather).

Snowman.jpg

Here's a snowman.

I'm sorry, it was a remarkably obvious point to make.

I enjoy the 'take a shit' banner.

^ Haha, is that a flower petal? Looks like it's got a little bow. :3

Would anyone be concerned if I made a thread about it later with a full gamut of photos?

Please do! Those look nice.

I believe it may be a tag for meat processing.

It's just a tag so they can track them.

Zephos, that picture of the lake is just gorgeous. I am in love! Please post more I would love to see your other scenic pictures.

Currently on week two of a six week study abroad program in Innsbruck, Austria. This weekend was the first weekend we could travel so some friends and myself went to Paris.

I spent a few days in Innsbruck last summer. It's pretty in an understated kind of way. I'd love to go back there. May I ask what your area of study is?

I think Innsbruck is pretty amazing. It has a really good combo of history and present day plus the location is perfect since it is in the Alps. I'm studying Marketing and the trip to Innsbruck is essentially the business school's summer study abroad program so I decided to tag along.

Was in Sri Lanka again a couple of weeks ago. Went on safari in one of the national parks.

Crested hawk thing. Saw bunch of other stuff but didn't get good pics.

Jeez, how hot was Sri Lanka in the summer? I went to Kerala in India for two weeks but during the Easter holidays and it was ****ing hot then!

I've got some pictures of short trip around Eastern Europe I did a couple of years ago, not on this computer so might upload some later.

I spent most of last week in the Bay Area. It was for work so I don't have anything interesting to post since I didn't get to do anything interesting. But jesus christ, how can northern California be that cold in July? I really felt dumb for not bringing a jacket with me.

31st I'm going to Austin which by contrast is going to be scorching hell.

The temperature, much like rent, was too damn high. It was in the 30s most days, mid-20s at night and verrrry humid.
