Shattered Horizons is one of those ambitious modifications that combines fantasy with medieval themes on a large scale. The threat of impending doom at the hands of a meteor on route with the Realm cause war and anarchy to break out in the two Kingdoms of the Realm. [br]</br>
Each map in the game would represent an island, and this will allow for a variety of map themes. For example, one could contain a volcano, whilst another is covered in snow. The multiplayer gameplay will involve fighting over the crystal shards. Each team starts with 4, and the more they claim from their opponent, the larger and more powerful weapons they can spawn with. If a team loses all of their crystals, they are unable to spawn new troops from their kingdom. Once a team receieves all 8 shards, the crystal core is theirs and they win the game.
In addition, they plan on implementing four main classes, each with their own subset of unique items and weapons:
  • Ranger
  • Fighter
  • Sorceror
  • Thief
Probably the coolest, but most ambitious idea they have come up with is this:

The timelimit is in the form of the meteor, which players can see constantly approaching from the sky. At set points during the game, parts may break away from the meteor and collide with structures in the map, revealing a stash of items. (Or possibly more crystal shards if the meteor is close, to encourage a win situation)

Nice maps, although they do look a bit clean :S

looks pretty good, although some of the scenery, mainly the cliffs are a bit angular. Looks pretty good but. Odd name for the map too judging by the screenshots, although they wouldnt represent much of the level.

I absolutely love the meteor idea... reminds me of Final Fantasy 7 :)

Coolness. It reminds me of Dragonshard a bit, even thought that game hasn't been released yet. Anyway, hopefully there will be some powerful effects to go along with any falling meteors...

Very cool idea, but this is exactly the type of game that would've worked perfectly on the Far Cry engine. Muttermuttermutter.
