As most of you know in games and movies that feature foreign countries - aka germany, france, russia, china, etc... have gibberish for words on signs or spoken. A good example would be Sean Connery speaking Russian in The Red October - I think he won the world's film worst accent for that film. 
In any case, as most of you are americans, does it matter/bother you if the foreign words you see are total gibberish?
Consider a foreign film (Such as "Life is Beautiful" (Italy)) - at the end of which there is an american soldier in a Sherman - imagine if he said something like "Blaga Maga Shoom Shoom Rah" and then the film was shown in US. I wonder how an English-speaking audience would react to that?
Why am I rambling? I just hope that HL-2 - since it is set in Eastern Europe would have some authentic feel to it. Under no circumstence is the team obliged to do it - but it would be cool to see some real words on signs. Something you can easily grab out of an online dictionary or ask a foreigner (I mean isn't US the land of Immigrants ?). Ok I am done - any comments - flames don't count. :cheers:
