Here is a thread for posting other people's short stories. They can be from well-known writers, not so well-known writers, deadbeat hacks and even your Aunt Fanny.

I realise that, by their nature, short stories can usually go without a summary. But perhaps giving a sentence, to lure in the reader, might be advised, so that we don't end up with list of boring looking links that nobody wants to click.

1,2,3 that I'm sure you're familiar with.

Life's a bitch and God is hilarious in;
The Star
Arthur C. Clarke

Like computers? Like questions? Like big? How about big computers asking big questions? This is the story for you;
The Last Question
Isaac Asimov

Humans are all meat. Head to toe, there's no denying it;
Meat Beings
Terry Bisson

I make this thread for the betterment of mankind.
I also don't know of that many short stories myself, and so I'd like to see more.
Post away, my friends.

I am going to avoid flooding this thread with 20 suggestions right now so I'll just do them one at a time.

First up, Alexander the God by Isaac Asimov. I've always loved this simple story. It's in his collection Gold. You can read it here (or search Google Books for Alexander the God).

Luring sentence: kid builds computer, names it Bucephalus, takes over world
