Should CS:S ragdolls be the same as in HL2DM? Or don't you even see the difference?

There's a difference? I must have missed it thanks to THE FUXING HUGE LAG.

lol all this complain over lag, i never have any

and the CSS, HL2DM, HL2 ragdolls are all the same! Its source! HL2DM just has alot more powerful weapons (ie RPG) to blow the characters farther with

I like CS:S ragdolls,

There not over the top wacky limbs flying everywhere ragdolls like in hl2dm
It's more realistic

When you get hit with a gernade you dont fly 3 feet then stop dead in your tracks and flutter to the ground. You sort of go until you crash into something or hit the ground. Also, ragdolls dont accelerate in CS:S, they fall at a constant speed. HL2DM on the other hand has real mans ragdolls.

I remember playing in this server where players just fly 10 feets away when they get killed. Lmao.

The thing with CS:S ragdolls is that they go static almost immediately after death. So it's not as fun to launch a friend with an explosion to watch him ragdoll.

HL2's ragdolls sometimes remind me of Ravenshield. Real flimsy, but at least they don't stop moving.

I prefer CSS's ragdolls over HL2DM's. The ones in DM are more "flashy" while the ones in CSS are more realistic.

A shotgun to the face is NOT going to make someone do a backflip, unlike what's displayed in HL2.

[edit] Besides, the ragdolls are all client-side, you can probably find a way to make them more along whatever your preference may be. However those crazy-ragdoll CSS servers do it, you can probably execute the same thing on your own machine.

It is possible to increase the push force on a weapon, you would need sv_cheats set to 1 though. It's not possible to stop the ragdoll from going static. That's my problem. The freezing in mid ragdoll just looks weird when you're being thrown by a grenade and it looks like a cardboard cutout just flew through the sky.

Yep I feel exactly the same way. HL2/HL2DM ragdolls are generally gimmicky/over the top and while immensely fun lose impact over a short time. CS:S on the other hand have far more acceptable ragdolls/weights and only occasionally do the bodies do cool looking moves. Which drastically extends their enjoyment and fills the game requirements of "realistic", perfectly balanced ragdolling.

It once again confirms to me that games that use Havok physics with so stupidly over-the-top ragdolls (DX:IW, Max Payne 2, HL2) do so for short term enjoyment rather than not being able to get it right.

I prefer the CS:S ones actually. I guess that's just because I've played it a bit more than HL2DM :D
