hey guys, i was just wondering if i should buy homeworld 2. all the reviews ive looked for sucked. not enough info. i was wondering mainly if it can be played online? and is it any good online? i know SP is great since i played the demo!

Hm2 infortunately SUCKS BIG TIME when compared to 1.
But it´s still the greatest 3d space strategy game ever.

I thought the demo was great, graphics are awesome. I'd get it aswell, only I've been spending alittle too much money lately lol :)

I havent tried it online but if its like the previous versions u need to sacrifice alot of time on a game cuz it takes a long to to do usually... And thats not what alot of internet people ;o) feel like. But yeah its a very good game indeed, if not for MP just but it for the Single Player.

so you havent tried it online. BTW i love HW1's story line so i will love 2. any how i just rly want to know how the MP is on it if thier is any.

very cool game but it's too hard for me, I'm not that interested in strategy games.

I agree it is a VERY hard game that is not THAT greate IMHO... i tried it but diddn't like it. However if you don't have Unreal 2 and XMP then you should get it... because it pwns!!!1

Homeworld 2 is awfull. Not because of the engine or graphics or even the [worse than Homeworld 1] controls, but because of the new campaign gameplay.

It make me want to scream! :frown:

At the end of each mission you gather up your forces and travel to the next. Fine, no problem. Then at the beginning of the next mission, you have an army (make you "w00t! No tedious building"). BUT it all depends on what type of fleet you have! The enemy can SLAUGHTER you, or they can all die horribly. Its all luck depending on what you built, and how many survived from the last round.
In other words, the developers expect the players to have a super-sense of the next mission. You have to build your fleet in mission 1 FOR mission 2. Otherwise you wont handle mission 2. And that is kind of hard when not knowing what mission 2 is... When you finally get to mission 3, you realize you have no way of defeating the enemy, cause once again your fleet is totally wrong for the job. And thus have to replay mission 2 AND mission 3. When you get to mission 4... Well, you get the idea...
And of course, if you face the enemy fleet in an all out battle for survival, and jumps up and down with joy when you are victorious, although with heavy, heavy, HEAVY losses (and a scraped knee), you are left with nothing the next mission.

Awfull is what it is.
Pretty though :)

i thought homeworld 2 was pretty easy. i never really had trouble defeating the computer unless it was on the really high difficulty.

i also have no idea how you can call the controls "worse than homeworld 1" when they are exactly the same controls :\

and you don't have to build your fleet FOR the next mission...just build a balanced fleet and you'll be totally fine :p

HM2? M is pretty far from the W key.

Infortunately? Urr, yeah.

I really enjoyed HW2, I loved scriming against the computers, that was fun.
