My roommate has offered to sell me X1900XTX for $150, it's slightly used, not overclocked. Debating whether or not to buy it, I need a new one. Should I go with it? I prefer nVidia but if this is a good deal I'll buy this and if I need extra performance I'll crossfire it later.

Also, if I get ATI should I get an AMD processor?

Go for it, it's a great card.

Also, preferring one GPU company over another isn't a smart thing to do, you should always go for whichever card gives you the best performance for your dollar.

Also also, you won't see any benefit if you get an AMD processor to go with your Radeon, unless your new AMD processor is better than whatever you have now. Speaking of, what are your specs?

I'm getting a whole new PC, my current is dead.

Anything I get will be better than what I had, so yeah. :-\

He's also selling me a good psu for $50.

Thank you though! :)

It always depends on the amount of money you are willing to spend. However, if the card is in good working condition, it is indeed a good deal.

The answer is no. ATI cards will not run any better on AMD systems vs Intel.

Now he's upping it to $180 without the cooler which would be an additional $50. Don't want to spend more than $200. :-\

Tard.

Cockslap the price back down to an acceptable margin.

You have to know how to barter with people.

First $150 & now he's upped the price to $180?

Maybe you need to up his rent and extra $30. Perhaps he read the responses to your original question & thought he could get more money out of you?

Looking at prices over on Newegg, I saw you can get the X1950 Pro for less or even GTX for around $25 more. Thats anew card with a warranty.

Perhaps you might want to look into a DirectX 10 card instead?

Keep us in the loop as to your decisions. :)

I sold my x1950xt to someone else for about $140. That was six months ago and it wasn't even with friend-discount. Tell him you'll pay $100 max, he's ripping you off.

Damn right. I wouldn't want to pay more than half retail value for a second hand purchase, especially not from a "friend".
