Well I stupidly bought WoW, and now I'm thinking I don't wanna pay a monthly subscription, I don't wanna end up like one of those guys who'll choose to play it rather then hang out with mates and now that I think about it the game seem's pretty pointless, is there any reason at all why I shoulden't return WoW? Is it really that awesome?

All Wow players will probably say yes. I suggest you just never touch that game. Trust me, you won't miss it.

just return it. The WoW community is full of selfish jackasses anyway

Can you really return it if you'v eused mteh cdkey to create an account?

no, register the CD key, then sell it on ebay to some schmuck. tell them the account has like 5 level 60s on it.

Wow is amazing, but if you value your life don't play it. Most people can't handle it's awesomeness.

Return it and buy Titan Quest and Company of Heroes

Just play it for a month and then decide.
The best responses of this thread. WOW has the biggest noobs you will ever find on the 'net. BUT it's the only game I have found in which you can sit in front of the screen and waste 4 hours fast! What I did was download the game over that Direct2Hard-Drive website. They use Fileplanet d/l service and I got the game pretty fast. I think it took me about 1-2 hours to download. The game really is that big btw. Then install the updates. They give you one month free in addition to the paid month. I will only play WOW if there is no good games out but that will probably change once I get my hands on Left 4 Dead. :cheese: When I quit WOW I felt like I was doing something wrong....idk. CyberPitz knows how I felt the best when I told him I felt like: "Frodo throwing the ring in the volcano and not doing it. That creature had to bite his finger off just to get it from him. I feel like Frodo lol." For me it was addictive. It's up to you to decide but they do give you 2 months.

Guild Wars is my WoW.

My problem with WoW is that my mates who play it feel compelled to play a lot even though they're not really enjoying it much because they're paying to play, grind also promotes this.

Play it for a month or whatever.

It's a good game, but it's not for everybody. The recurring fees really aren't that big of a deal if you have any kind of adequate income.

If you play it and decide that you want to stay, prepare to spend another $40 on the expansion, assuming you don't already have it. I was thinking of commin back to WoW a while back, then I figured out that it would cost me almost $80 to continue playing a game I already have (expansion + gamecard purchase). Go with what Ennui said.

Hey, I got an idea, let's buy a game with a monthly subscription and then realize we don't want to ****ing pay it.

You lose, good day sir.

If you love games where you do nothing but run around completing repetitive/tedious quests and hitting hundreds of hotkeys during every battle... then go for it.

If you love games where you command the same units and utilize the same tactics for nearly every map with varying difficulty, then go for it.

If you love games where you move your little person around to piss every five minutes, then go for it.

While I'll admit WoW and pretty much every MMO ever has a ton of those quests, There are a bunch of quests in WoW that are different than your usual "lol collect this many things or kill this many guyz"

Especially in the Burning Crusade.

I still say don't play it though. I quit a month ago and haven't missed it.

WoW is actually not that bad to play.yes it is a expensive game to play but quite enjoyable.Just play it for a month then see if you want it or not.either than that i recommend company of heroes.

hmmm, well I did buy it from the cheapest Kmart store you'll ever see (there's displaced stock everhwere, everyone robs from it), so I guess I'll register the cd key and then return it. If I can't, **** it, I'll just buy a gamecard and test it out. It's not like I'd ever chose a game over haveing fun anyway.

I played it for the first month when I bought it. It's a good deal for $20

I reccommend you give it a whirl for a month, guage your addiction factor, then get your significant other or someone you trust to toss it out the window if you're too addicted.

Touche.

If you like playing a game with other people and having to rage occasionally then go for it. - how many games did I just cover?

More can be found in my new book "Generalizing for fun and profit!"

If you like to talk like Kyo, gtfo. :D

At least no one mentioned the profit part. I never said you'd make a profit, only that I would.

Oh crap why the hell diden't i start on the server my mate plays on, why the hells he even play on an american server anyway. Look's like I'll have to train that wizard up again. :(

Like most games in the genre the quality of your experience depends almost entirely upon your number of friends in the game. Find a good guild and you'll be hooked. Run around and grind by yourself and you'll lose interest. Even "Kill X Hellboars" can become a blast when you are doing it with some mates.

from someone that has spent countless hours (that i want back) playing WOW i say YES return it while you still can
:sniper:

If you're willing to work, and I do mean work, at a game to have some fun later, you may like WoW... if not, steer clear...

I played it for a little over a year and a half, quit, came back for the expansion, and have now pretty much quit again. It's just far too much time having absolutely no fun whatsoever. Grinding (killing the same things over and over using the same skills over and over... for money, XP, materials, reputation), leveling (hello spending the majority of your time watching your guy fly on the flightpaths, running, grinding, and waiting on boats), getting materials for the later dungeons, getting the reputation to even enter some later dungeons, getting items that let you get into later dungeons, making/buying/finding all the right items to be a competitive PvP player... it all downright sucks. The actual PvP and playing the instances can be fun, and instances are only fun if you've managed to find a nice guild as doing so-called pick-up groups could be considered a form of torture given the types of players this game has drawn to it.

The only reason I played it for so long is the great guild I was lucky to find, and I mean like REALLY lucky... one of those guilds that's by far the best on the entire server, which takes out a lot of the work part, but at the cost of having to be online at certain scheduled times, which can be stressful!

I would never recommend this game to anyone. :P
