Show me your WASD!

Pitiful, pitiful WASD user. Arrows are where it's at.

Great Topic!

I'll post my as soon as I find my dig cam.

Yeah, real gamers buy quality keyboards that don't wear... you're just showing how much of a n00b you are!

nor are mine, if my keyboard started to wear the letter off i'd be pissed off, when buying a keyboard i expect it to last! This one was like £40, its a media one. Its been round the block many times and still looks good as new....well ish :p

What??? and do you use alt to strafe and pgup/pgdown to look up and down too? haha! I pity the foo'!

On a more serious note, I use ASDX - don't know where I picked it up, but now I'm hooked. I use Q for lamps and only use W, E, & R for obscure functions not necessarily needed in a firefight.

...how do I publish an image at Imageshack?

On a side note. I think its a good idea for some of you to clean your keyboards once in a while.

I use Q for flashlight too (learned that from Halo), and I jump using the 'e' key (first did that in Halo to free up the space button for meleeing).

I...am...got a new key-board this-morning(yah, that's it) so they're...er...not worn...at all.

My keyboard isn't really THAT loud. It's just the fact that my DESK MIC is right next to the keyboard (picking up lot's of vibration) and the fact that my keyboard isn't one of those ultra quiet ones.... Makes it sound loud.

And none of my keys are worn. Your keyboard would have to be made of play-doh for that to happen.

I'm pretty sure it was a solid oak keyboard, might be worth something.

Would solid oak be loud in the first place?

It would sound cooler than it is loud.

Edit: I remember when I switched to WASD.... Halo PC made me do it, what with all the keys it had.

WSAD provides more accessable buttons than Arrow Keys.
Arrow Keys are for teh novice.

Hardly, you've got R.Ctrl, R.Shift, Enter, Delete, End, Page Down, NumPad4, NumPad1 and NumPad0 in the immediate vicinity, and they're far more comfortable to reach than what's around WASD.

And with WSDA you have:
Q, E, R, T, Spacebar (thats a bigge for jumping), F, G, C, V, Z, Tab, Caps Lock, L. Shift, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, Esc, ~, F1 - F8, L. Alt, B, N. Plus you can get to typing a message quicker.
-.-
The accessability you have with your thumb is worth the price of admission alone.
If you have a game where you can lean from left to right, q and e are perfect for it, since it's right above your movment keys.

T, Esc, `/~, F1-8, L. Alt, B and N are not in the direct vicinity. Space is useless anyway. They're incredibly hard to reach efficiently. Besides, I've only ever found a couple of games that require more keys than what I have around the arrows, and they're usually for unimportant functions that can be assigned to the remaining NumPad keys, Insert, Home and Page Up. WASD is simply uncomfortable, and you find yourself mashing random keys or hitting the wrong one altogether. Useless.

WASD shoots itself in the foot in the first place because W is off-centre from A, S and D, anyway. Far too niggly.

WASD is the sole reason why my middle finger is crooked. Don't be a crooked middle finger freak, use the goddamned arrow keys.

T, Esc, `/~, L. Alt, B and N are just as accesable as friggen Del, End, Pg Down are.
Oh look, whats the nifty opposable thumb I have? BAM, and I easy access to c, v, b, n with no trouble at all. ~ is just as accessable at Enter is. L. Alt is just as accessable as Num 0 is. T requires a nanosecond to hit, which dosent matter since you'd only be hitting T to Talk, which you wouldent really do in an intence combat situation.

You have used WSAD before right? For any length of time.
Cuz I used arrow keys since Doom and untill I played Counter-Strike for a month, then realized WSAD was the way to go (that was about 3.5 years ago).

Dunno what you do with WSAD, but my middle finger is fine.

Oh wow, thats hillarious.
When your putting your hand in possition for WSAD, it's slightly sideways, which makes up for the slight offcenter.

Uh, hardly? Del, End, and PageDown are fantastically easy to reach because they're about 2cm above your three middle fingers - easy access. The ones you listed force you to contort unnecessarily to reach them - you're actually saying that reaching about 3cm underneath 'S' is on the same par as using your thumb (yes, believe it or not it gets used in arrow config too) to hit NumPad 0? NumPad 0 is solely reserved for Reload in any game I play that allows it, so using your thumb alone for that function serves to be incredibly useful. You, on the other hand, are using your thumb to attempt to access C, V, B and N - the thumb is not a precise instrument, so you're going to end up occasionally hitting the wrong key or mashing Space as well in the process. Not good.

Yes, I've given the WASD keys a chance on several occasions, and there's no way that they can ever match up to arrows.

No it makes it extremely inefficient. You can always tell a WASD noob, they have trouble doing the simplest of things.

The distance between the WASD keys and the mouse is just right.

I was obviously unaware that the distance between the mouse and keyboard hand was an important factor in anything.
