Perhaps a lot of the ppl with the newer ATI cards had Nvidia Geforce 2/3/4 cards before...
That would be my guess.
I've got a GF4 4200 sitting in my older machine (athlon xp 1700+)
I have a Geforce2/radeon 7200/ATI AIW 128pro laying around unused.

yea i guess, but until ati comes out with something just top if the line, im talkin 512mb ram and a 550mHz core with full direct x whatever support, ill just stick with my 5900 ultra, besides its still considered top of the line anyways. vertex and pixel 2.0 is the same on no matter what card, its just a matter of how well they can handle it.

Yeah.
The main selling point of ATI cards now is running DX9 with no performance hit. Basicly running it on par with DX8.1 performance.
Can't say that is a benifit for the FX.
Nvidia has just had a ruff year. It's almost over, though.

Bingo. I went from a GeForce3 Ti200, read up on what card to get.
Almost bought a FX 5600 256MB (phew), instead I saved $100 more and got a Radeon 9700. Best card at the time was the 9700 pro, glad I got what I got when I got it. FX 5900 was WAY too expensive

ok, now i see, i was just skimming the thread and didnt really notice it. and yea compared to the geforce 4, the radeon cards were better choice and they were the new top of the line cards.
