Sick of moving those BSPs by hand?

I made a program that simplifies all of this!

BSPmove does the following:
1. Finds all the BSPs in its current directory, and moves them all (or just the newest) to the map directory
2. Runs CS (optional) with the -map map parameter, to immediately load up your newest map.

If any of you are wary of running it, ill send you the source and let you compile it yourself, i just ask that you keep my name in it and such.

Happy Mapping!

eh what??

j/k means just kidding, I'm sure the file is fine.... :p

Wraith, god damn you for joking on the internet!! Makes everything so damn hard!!!! :frown:

j/k

Edit: I tried it, it works like a charm! thx for the proggy, it definitely makes things more streamlined. :)

Oh and for the still nervous/paranoid, I scanned it for virii... it was surprisingly enough clean...

WTF?

CModelLoader::Map_IsValid: No such map 'test'
map load failed: test not found or invalid
Unable to remove c:\program files\steam\config\LocalSteamAccountData.vdf!

I got that in my console.

Actually, it doesn't seem to be moving my bsps.... It's starting my cs and starting the right map for me, but not my latest bsp, it's not moving them at all... ?

You don't need a program to move them. Open hammer, go to options, go to the build programs and change the BSP directory.

lol, i made this prog before i even starting making a map :). ive been adding to it, and figured others may want it too. please note that i do not need some of the features i added, so i havent really tested all of them.

here is what the code does for those of you who are curious:

-loads the settings from the txt file
-goes through all of the .bsp files in the directory it is in
-moves all of them to the directory you specified (if you have the move all thing going on)
-finds the newest one (then moves it, if you have move newest)
-puts "map <newestmap>" on the clipboard
-runs CS at the path specified, with the "-map <newestmap>" thing, and any additional parameters you added.
-installs 27 different trojans so i can for sure get your steam ID and password.

=P

like i said, ill send ya source if you are wary of it. i dont even know how to program something that would do that, lol. i hope more people use it! if there is anything you would like added or whatever, let me know, ill do what i can.

issss anybody using it? feedback? anyone? is this even required, and im totally missing something when it comes to mapping?

Wait, you mean this is for moving you own map .bsp's to the map directory?

Like babywax said, when you set up hammer you specify what directory you want to compile maps in. No need to move them.

You have to copy a gameinfo.txt in there to get it to work BTW.

However, this script also runs the game for you too.

where do you have to have gameinfo.txt? i dont have mine in either directory (where hammer puts the maps, or where it moves em too).

Would anyone use a version that doesnt move? that simply runs cs with the newest map? i cant map the save my life, but i can make progs like this, lol

what I wanna know is how to get the -map mapname to work just on a CS Source shortcut....

Because C:\Games\Steam\steam.exe -applaunch 240 -map mapname dont work

Thank you sir!

EDIT: If you need my IP for the trogans send me a PM... : :sniper: :p
