Silent Hill aka Centralia

The Silent Hill (Centralia) movie is being shot in my home town of Brantford, Ontario. A horror news site put up pictures of the town here http://www.supercrazymayhem.com/brantford/?photo=1
The first picture ("Save Our Downtown") is actually my friends' venue, the Ford Plant (www.thefordplant.ca)
The town looks so abandoned because in the late 80s a tycoon in Michigan named Steve Kun bought all those buildings and raised the rent so high no one could afford it. He doesn't take car of them at all, so he's effectively turned the place into a ghost town, hence the "Save Our Downtown" sign in the window. If anyone gets a chance to go to Brantford, defintiely check out the Ford Plant.
I'll try to get some pictures of the filming when I visit home next weekend.

that place is perfect, good job on living in an abandoned-looking city, and then getting a movie shot there

Yeah it looks like a dump, but it's actually a pretty interesting city with some nice, rundown places. I like it. Also, I didn't live IN Brantford, but about a 15 minute drive from it. But I was there quite a bit because it's where my friends were and where I went to shows, and still do.

Apparently they were supposed to start shooting next week but it's been postponed because they don't have some actors yet.
This is just what i heard, so take it with a grain of salt. I'll be at the Ford Plant friday, and I'll have all day to wander around and see what I can dig up and who I can talk to.
