I don't know if you've seen the new SinE screenshots prior to reading this, but they're looking mighty fine. Those mutants look so slimy n' ugly it just makes me want to unload a few rounds of lead into them. The enemy mercenaries have each tight strap, each crease in their clothes and every glint of metallic armour rendered in stuningly high definition. Oh, and don't get me started on Jessica... [br] [br] Did I mention the game's delayed until 2006? [br] [br] For those of you with hot tears streming down your chubby cheeks (why do I imagine crying nerds as fat? Blame EA!) just remember how great Half-Life 2 turned out. Hopefully SiNE will have just as much detail poured into it, plus more, because it's episodic. Sorry I just wanted an excuse to say that. Episodic! [br] [br] *ahem* Anyway, Ritualistic were the one's to grab this piece of news, so head over to their site to find out more. They're also showcasing the stunning new screenshots, found here. Mmm, redheads.

Off-topic: Who is that person with the wild goggles in your avatar?

Alucard!

From the anime Hellsing.

(Note: spell it backwards)

Sometimes my avatar takes me over, and I make spontaneous, completely informal news posts like this one. WHERE IS THE FORMALITY? Wouldn't you like to know.

Hmm... spell it backwards... gnislleH?
But in all seriousness, I'm no fatty. Open your stupid sterotyping mind and see me in all my sexiness!

Why do all the news posts lately sound like they're written by 2 year olds... ?

Anyway, it was a pretty easy guess that it would be out in 2006 considering it's the 19th of December.

not hellsing (thats the name of the show), Alucard :p Alucard backwards is DRACULA kiddies and for those who dont know Alucard is a character in the anime hellsing

NOW BACK ON TOPIC! D:<

Yeah that was the joke. I think. I hope. Shame for the delay but pretty numb to those these days. For the record, I'm not fat either. Fast metabolism takes care of that! Oh, and all the exercise I do, that probably helps too... Either way, I'm super-hot.

Just as with HL2:Aftermath

If it means a signifigntly improved product, I'm all for it

Ah hellsing... I mean— ah SiNE... This one can't come soon enough. By the way, is it just me or does Perfect Dark Zero have a visual style reminiscent of SiNE's? Maybe it's just the cyber punk atmosphere and main-chars having red hair, though.

The screens look good, but how are they planning to release episodes if they already have problems with releasing the first one?

The first episode will always be the hardest. Think about how Half-life 2 would have been if they were releasing it episodically. Before releasing the first episode, they'd need to design guns, model the G-Man, Alyx, Kleiner, Barney, and lots of enemies, design trainstation and courtyard of City 17, etc.

Now, all that work is done, imagine them releasing the episode with Follow Freeman. Model work is done, the mapping leans heavily on previously mapped areas, objects and textures are mostly done, etc.

The point is, there isn't necessarily much relationship between getting the first episode out on time and getting future episodes out regularly. It's even possible that the time and effort spent now on doing the core assets well will make it easier and faster to develop future episodes.

SiN Episodes to be Released 'Early 2006' (5 Comments)

Replacing the early Fall 2005 release date, The official SiN Episodes website now has word that we will see the first episode, titled Emergence, in early 2006. With Ritual self-funding the title, it's pretty safe to say that we won't see a premature release this time around.

That's not a week old. :/

cause they're all up gabe's ass so much, they cant even write a neutral news post...

it's delayed, nothing positive about that...just face the facts instead of describing the quality of the screenshots...it has nothing to do with the delay...

Meh, not really looking forward to this any more... I can't see much anything original happening.

I realise this is 'episodic content', but there still has to be a great game in there, and the only people I trust to make generics come alive is Valve

I'm sorry? Did we ever describe ourselves as bastions of neutral and objective journalistic integrity? It's a fansite. Do you understand that concept?

We have newsposters that try to put a bit of colour in their posts, rather than just pasting press releases and single-line "news". Don't like it? I'm sure there's other sites that would just adore your patronage.

LOL. Yeah, good point. I mean it's hardly news is it? Unless maybe they were going to release on Xmas day as a present to the community. And what's this about Valve taking the festive season off? Come on fellas, do you think you've earned it? I mean how about one last ditch effort to get Aftermath out this year? :cheese:

Btw, Gabe's not leading SiNE. I'm all for the optomistic gaming news, by the way; makes for a bit of a change.

Well I expected a delay so it doesn't change my life, one of the devs said a trailer may be out January after CES.

So...what exactly makes this game special? When I read the overview, it sounded like something along the lines of Deus Ex(which kicks ass), but the screenshots suggest a generic sci-fi horror shooter.

I think you kinda have a point there pu mi, and you always react harshly to anyone who criticizes valve, just as I get pissed when people unnecissarily trash mods, prolly cause Ive been a modder and theyre just amateurs trying to do good.

I think the problem he sees, I see, and alot of others see, who like me weren't half life 1 fanbois ( not meant to be insulting, im definatly a RE4 fanboi i admit), the problem isn't being a fan of the game thats irritating, its engaging in what i call "Valve Worship"

Thats why its so odd to see it from staff here on a HL2 fansite, cause its not about hl2, its about pushing and promoting every single thing that Valve is engaged in as the second comming of Christ.

Great that theres gonna be Sin Episodes, and I may pick them up after so many episodes cause I can hardly wait for a new season of House, much less 6 months for a new game episode. But the sycophantic nature of the posts sometimes, and the responses "go valve; valve you rock" etc etc, its frankly a bit disturbing.

There has been alot of games that I love, and very few of those I could tell you which company made them, maybe one or two could I even tell you a member of the staff.

I know you'll now call me a troll, but honestly im trying to get this through to ya that for every action, theres an equal and opposite reaction. when you have such blantant unconditional lust for a company, others will view that as strange, and react as so. Its the same as people who bash on religious folks and their gods, because to them its creapy to see that kinda stuff.

please no big war, sorry to go off topic, but this will happen pu mi. no need to get upset or angry at people who may not idolize valve and everything that they are a part of.

And yet you only see what you want to see. I do not idolise Valve. I do not see everything they do as the second coming of Christ. Nor do I have unconditional lust. I am frequently critical of them and various aspects of their development/business.
Additionally, I don't care if other people don't do. What I do dislike, however, is pointless (and frequently incoherent) bashing of Valve for no apparent reason other than some strange dislike.

I would suggest that if you find the responses of people on this fansite disturbing in nature that you stop visiting the site. Some people have more of an emotional investment in Valve than you do, but that doesn't make you better than them in any way.

and yes, you are a troll.

Fair enough. Next time it'll simply be:

Sin episodes has been delayed till early 2006

Your a troll Polyguns. Always have been.

Ah well, I'm looking forward to this and I'm sure this delay will help make the game all the better. Oh sorry, thats a negative isn't it.

Thats to slow. 40% of the time you guys post news its on time. Other times its always i already new that. I dont really care because i always know about most of the news when its released. One thing you guys have tho is interviews and News directly from Valve that im always anticipating.

Just saying lately the news is lagging. There might be a reason for it which is why im not flaming or going crazy over it. My comment was mainly a joke around if you know what i mean.:bounce:

and yes, you are a troll.

and you heard what you wanted to hear, and reacted with normal hostility. Its a game pu mi, and a game site. Forums are for open expression. you jump ass any time that people post something critical, and critical is important to a degree. You took all of that as I was applying it directly to you, I wasn't, but some people, HELL YEA; and they wouldn't be insulted at all to be accused of those things, they would be proud of it. and power to them. I was just explaining that some people have a different pont of view on a GAME, yet you will take the time to be insulting to another human being and try to run them off cause they have a different opinion on a GAME! take some time to honestly contemplate that before responding.

you have done this now twice to two posters in one thread. " if you don't like it, quit comming" . thats such a childish (and i hate saying stuff like that) way to look at it. Again, look up the definition of forums.

Its good to go somewhere and have people with differing opinions, and as a forum visitor I enjoy reading different points of views. nothing more agonizing then 5 pages of "go valve; valve rocks" and pointless posts that really say nothing before you get to thoughtful opinion on the subject, which can still be praisefull (did i just make that word up?) of course.

also, as a staff member, you may want to rethink simply telling people who took the time to register on the forums to leave. Ive worked at alot of places, never have I told a customer to not come back.

Again, you failed to read what I wrote. I don't "jump ass any time that people post something critical" at all. I come down on posts that pointlessly (or incoherently) slam Valve (or anyone else) for no reason at all.
So your big, run-on paragraph about it being only a GAME! etc etc is irrelevant.
I don't, and never have, had a problem with opposing viewpoints.

I don't see it as childish at all. If someone is coming here and yet disliking (to the point that they find it disturbing) what they see, then it's obviously not the place for them.

As a staff member, I don't intend to rethink anything. If a "customer" comes into the place where you work and stands there saying how much they hate what you sell, then it's obviously not the store for them.
If I needed advice on how to do what I do, I wouldn't be asking you.

So, anybody interested in SiN news? Not me at least. Can't see anything why I should be.

Expected.
I'm very much looking forward to Sin2:e so I hope early 2006 really does mean early and not q2. I need some fresh sp.

.bog.

hmm....it seems most of these games get delayed nowadays...whats the deal with delays...i must have missed something.

some of those screenshots are looking great. I didn't know that sin was expected to be released so soon anyways, seems like just a couple months ago they still had some hl2 content in their screens. I hope yu's get jetpacks

did anyone else notice that the radar tower bares a strange resemblance to the one in Final Fantasy 8?

It's a sequel to SiN!

I honestly don't get that either. before the announcement on here i had never in my life heard about a game called sin. either way it may or may not be a special game, depends alot on the actual game.

question though about episodic games, how the hell do you review those? i mean you could always have an excuse for a crappy ending, lack of gameplay etc, just say "its in the next episode"

SiN was released the same year as Half-Life. In fact, it was released slightly before. It is said that it was rushed towards the end of development in order to beat the impressive-looking Half-Life to market. Which it did. Unfortunately, the quality suffered, and the original release was plagued with bugs (20 minute load times!).
As a consequence of this, and the release of Half-Life, SiN suffered. However, the fully-patched game was immense fun and well worth playing, even today.

It's not my fault I didn't notice for two days (I count 2:00 in the morning on Monday as Tuesday :P), but is is your fault that you didn't submit this as news as soon as you noticed. If you want us to be faster at posting news, help us a little instead of just poking us when we fall. Normally we don't post late news, but if it's important (and SinE is important) then better late than never.

Oh and whoever said I sounded like a 2 year old, I resent that! Although this news post was a little too informal; I wanted to go to bed and I'm sorry. They'll be more boring in future. It's just rather hard to think of something interesting and informative to write for every single news post, y'know?
