Single Player tomorrow??

Here's what I read in the Gamespot HL2 forums:

"I just got off the phone with a few different video game stores (EB,futureshop, etc) because I wanted to know what new titles they had out and they had told me that they have gotten the single player version of HL2 shipped in today and to be put onto the shelves tommorow!!. I'm in Canada but the guys at the store said it was a world-wide release tommorow for this version, Im not really sure what they meant by the version. I don't know if i'll get any sleep and I'll be heading down to the store tommorow. If you don't believe me because there has been so much crap going around about the release dates, just call up your local store and I'm sure they will have gotten them shipped sometime today also. Matt"

So what do you guys think? I think it may be true.

we'll I didnt write that message, so no.. Im not bullshitting. But I kinda believe the guy who wrote it... I mean, it IS a possibility that the single-player only version ships... Has anybody else heard about this?

yeah but you could play the single player version until the multiplayer comes out, then upgrade your version to MP with steam.

then why did the guy say that they were getting the single player version of the game? they wouldn't be able to confuse a single player version of a game with a different game that only has one version

yeah I just thought about that too... plus another guy on the same gamespot thread said he also got word that it was coming out on the 30th (at Futureshop). Are there futureshops in the US? I think it's the equivalent of Best Buy.

I live in Canada too (Montreal) and there is an EB and a Futureshop right next to each other, as well as Toys R Us and Staples.

According to Amazon.com, Halo2 is scheduled to be released on April 18, 2004 for the XBox. I don't know about the PC version.

So if the guy got Half-Life 2 mixed up with Halo2, he must really be confused.

(Of course the first Halo is scheduled to be released tomorrow).

Yes. It is scheduled to.

Halo2 for Xbox is scheduled for release on April 18, 2004 according to Amazon.com

Halo2 for PC is unknown at this time.

id expect at this point that we are well beyond speculation and info sources others than valve. from now on dont believe anything unless its an official message from valve, i was also looking forward to playing hl2 tomorrow but its not gonna happen. all im hoping for now is that it doesnt get delayed for a second time to 2004

However if this statement is real, maybe the guy working at said store was just looking on the store computer rather than actually seeing the game itself. Maybe their computers still say Sept 30th because that was the expected release date.

I don't know ifyou guys heard a date of October 17, 2003.

I went to EB about a week or two before and they said it'll be released on this date. Canada, British Columbia, Burnaby, Metrotown, EB.

Now only if I remember the guy's name.
