Sinko's attempted (electronic) musical learning thread

Yeah, the chords feel a bit off.

Cool drum loop.

Dude, you seem to be picking up on melody pretty fast :) ok first thoughts on outer space excursion. the drums are too loud for being uncompressed

i actually like the piano lead combination alot, especially the last notes in the "main progression". try using quantizing to fix up your notes when they are abit out of tempo

i was going to say its pretty repetitive, but i realised i've made repetitive music since i started :P it's really interesting to hear your melodical ideas. they dont quite fit together at some parts, but it's nice nonetheless. just keep going, you'll be a pro in no time

space cook is dull, basically. not really interesting. atonality/dissonance is extremely hard to pull off

Too loud? Really? I turned it up because I thought it sounded kinda cool whilst a tad louder.

Might just be my drumming background popping up and being a bitch though : /. I'm used to just being given empty instrumental jams and just being told to come up with a beat for it. People do tell me that I have a tendency to forget that there are OTHER instruments in the song, and that I need to turn the volume down on the drumming :P

As for Space Cook, I understand what you MEAN by it having dissonance, but i'm not too sure I fully understand which part you're referring to. I'm particularly interested in which instrument and how it interacts with the drum beat, because whilst trying to come up with a nice synth lead, I sat at my keyboard and hit the first 3 notes that I had in mind for the melody, and kind of just blanked out. I knew EXACTLY what I wanted for the synth lead (or rather, the feel, speed, intensity, and note placement of what I wanted), but when I got down to the actual melody itself, rather than just pumping out a ton of really bland sounding shitcakes (which i'm used to atm), I found myself just sitting there clueless.

I dunno, I figured it might have something to do with what you said.

Thank you for the comments though :)

turn the volume down and youll hear how loud the drums are compared to the rest of the track

space cook was just dull, it's dissonant in the last chord of the chorus, and not in an interesting way imho. if you had found a more tonal chord to move to it'd fit better

I makes a dance-ish song.

Wanted to try to do something simpler.

(And yes, I realize it's not a very "Acid" song. It was supposed to sound like "Chief Dances With Acid", as in the drug, and then I noticed that I had used a genre name :()

EDIT: And again, winLame ****s with the levels. Turn it up a bit : /

Comments very much welcome kthxbai
