Site slow to load............

Its been very slow tonight... i hope its okay when i wake up tomorrow... nn all.

It's extreamly painfuly slow... opening this thread took a minute.

Hey Majestic you're an MD, don't you hv one of those red phones to Munro. Then you could tell him fix whatever this is.
Be aware that several Hl2 commu. sites hv been hacked so the same person could be trying to do something to Hl2.net

Since the forum upgrade, each page usually takes around 2-3 minutes to load for me.

no real slow downs here..
the occassional time when i hit a link and nothing happens, but i hit refresh and everything loads and goes back to normal :)

hmmm..

During GMT morning-afternoon periods, the forum is fine. However, during GMT evening (~PST/EST morning/afternoon) it slows down, the most annoying thing being that every so often I'll click a link, it'll do nothing, I click again repeatedly and it still does nothing, then after having to wait a 10-second period I click again and it'll work. Infuriating.

Aye, you need to get munro to release a few dosen headcrabs to HomeLans office :p

I get that too.

We all know HomeLAN suck.

Ah well :)

Aye it has been slow. I've just updated the forums and it seems to have improved it a little. I'll be looking into other ways to improve the speed of the site soon.

Improved Speed = Less Traffic. Without really putting any thought into it, you could restrict any posting -and- browsing of the fourms to registered members only, or remove overly-inactive posters who have gaps of inactivity over lengths of time.

ur telling me!!!!!! i just pinged the site, on a 10 MB pipe and got 1072ms :x

A fat woman running through mud pulling a school bus. Pages are painfully slow. :(

It's like being on dial up again...

God, I agree, it's sad.... very sad. I remember the good ol' days. It reminds me of 56k *shudder*, and I have DSL!

ssssssssssslllllllllooooooooooo

*timed out before message sending could be completed*

yeah i agree, its take a while to load and navigate trough the webpage, when i am not using my computer.

I need to have a word with our web host ;(

That's becuase more people are online. It's official, homeLAN suck.

vBulletin 3 is known for putting more stress on the CPU so its bound to be slower in higher traffic. I would advise turning of guest browsing and turn on guest viewing the new posts, a kind of trade off.

I would also tweak the header image and lower its quality alittle, thats a few kbs saved here and there. Apart from that you just got to tweak vBulletin.

Its a mixture of both, vB3 requires a good CPU, and obviously HomeLans cant cope.
