Cool lil proggy for cheap phone-like chats with friends and family - best thing being it's completely free... the major differences between this and netmeeting is the way your account is managed - you can sign in anywhere (like MSN messenger) - The sound quality is amazing too (no delay either).

If you haven't got it you should check it out, get your mates to get it too... it's just cool

Share your account names here and i'll even stalk you. :upstare:

I've installed it on my XDA2 (pocketPC) too so I can get free phone calls whenever i'm in a wireless hotspot (home and uni and most places inbetween) :D

Since the other thread's closed....

Sorry, didn't think there'd have been a thread about it, should have searched i guess.

I'm amazed this didn't even get 1 reply, am i missing something about how good this deal is?? Are there any other services that do worldwide calls as cheap? If so please tell me. :)

This is really cheap (and free for people with it on their PC) and so much better than a phone call, it's like they're in the same room as you. I use it mainly to chat with my brother and his wife (they live in oxford).

Since most people have broadband, I can't believe how few people are taking to skype. It's the new ting! No need for text-based messengers...

when it came out there was several million downloads just by the end of the first week... ;) current downloads: 28,161,067
i think many people has it but dosent use it though

been using it for a while when i play online with friends. Really good program..great sound quality...

is it better than net2phone (or the like) for someone in the usa?

the problem is with voice based messengers on pc's is taht you cant keep your music going or have your privacy that text messaging (Phone and msn, aim etc) gives you. I'd find it difficult to chat to 5 people at once talking and listening to them and all that. But if you have a tech savvy mother or brother, you can use it instead of a call, which is pretty decent. but for wider use in chatting, text based is just more comfortable with me.

??Why would they have to be tach savvy - you could ring them on their phone.....

I agree with the point about multiple conversations, and playing music. Although having just talked to a friend who's in Budapest after only using MSN Messenger it's MUCH better to actually talk.
