Yes, I love sleep!!
But with icky homework and this freakishly addictive forum, I don't quite get enough sleep. I think the longest I've slept straight through was 16 hrs: 4 PM to 8 AM.... that was 3 yrs ago when I stayed up til at least 2 AM and sometimes til 5 AM all week and then had to get up at 7 for school.

I LOVE sleeping, but I absolutely dread going to bed. So, I go to bed reluctantly and then get out of bed reluctantly, endless cycle.. regardless, sleep rocks :)

I hate sleep. I could get so much more if I didn't have to.

I hate the whole conecpt of "Oh it's late, I should sleep."

It would be nice to not have to sleep then you'd have plenty of time, wouldn't be forced to get things done or have to put off certain things.

or if you could go to sleep on demand... life would be easier that way

i hate the "time to go sleepy" crap.... but when i do finally go beddy-bye... it's heaven

Sleep is the best. When I have to get up for classes...it's awesome to wake up thinking I have to actually get outta bed and goto class...then I look at the clock and I have like 3 more hours...
It gets even better when I wake up again with like an hour to spare...

I wish my dreams were cooler though...my dreams always end up being something completely retarded or something that just doesn't make sense..

I can't say I've ever had the falling dream...or a dream where I just run down a hall or anything... just stupid stuff like.. me picking up trash in a room...or me going grocery shopping...or me going about a normal day...really really lame.

sleep is most awesome thing ever. I love when u wake up in the morning and yur so relaxed, and u dont have to get up! booyah

I think the word you seek is mundane.

Personally: Pie.

I like sleep, don't get me wrong, but I have a tendency to oversleep... which I think wastes time.

I've been going to sleep at 5:30 in the morning and getting up at 3:00 in the afternoon lately...

I had a dream that micheal jackson told me to kill my family and friends im not joking.

At the ages of 15/16 I used to be able to do three to four days without sleep.. now at the age of 21 I find if I skip a night of sleep I'll crash around 4pm/6pm. I can survive on about three hours of sleep though.

It's quite scary in the fact it's a sign of "old age", not being able to do things as much as you could before.

Talk about body betraying mind.

If we didnt need sleep, then it would be likely that the majority of people would be working 18 hour days...not including any overtime they might have to do.

Anyway, i love sleep, i have so many good ideas when im asleep. I remember one time i figured out how to fly, but only about 2 and a half metres off the ground...it made so much sense, but there was one crucial thing i couldnt do when i woke up. Leave the ground. I remember in the dream i had to kind of lean forward, tense my legs and slowly bend them up, but slightly to the side. The place that i was flying was odd too, it was a large cave, there was no visisble light source (at least, in the dream there wasnt. There was an entrance to the cave that led to day lgiht but in the dream that didnt count as a light source), but it was still twilight.
I remember i was walking down a road, and the best way i can describe it is, that episode of Futurama where fry and his 20th Century girlfriend think they are in the year 4000, in a post apocaliptic LA. Anyway, i was walking down the road and i came to the entrance of the cave. Inside were hundreds of goths, and more were coming from behind me. So that is the point where i began to fly above them. They kept on trying to grab me, but couldnt reach, eventually i realised i was holding a pistol and i began to shoot. After a while i couldnt fly anymore and i was stood on the ground with them all coming towards me. I then suddenly had a 50 Cal browning machinegun in a support fixed to the ground. So i began to shoot them all, however i wasnt holding them back and just when it looked like i was going to get it, a hand reached down and i heard someone say, its ok you are safe now. When i grabbed the hand, all the goths stopped where they were, standing in fear of this person. I looked up and i couldnt see thier face because it was in a shadow, but they were reaching down from some sort of transport (kind of like the ones from Halo that the humans use). So anyway, they pulled me in and we flew off, out of the city. I asked him where i was going and he said, you'l just have to wait and see.
We flew off the planet and it turned out to be earth...then i woke up.

Where is stone when you need him? :)

Anyway yeah....Sleep is fun :D

I think technically there isn't any real need for us to sleep from a scientific perspective (the body is just a biological engine after all). But our brains need the downtime in order to carry out a bit of emotional defragging.

Without regular periods of sleep our brain is unable to process and rationalise the emotional states we experience throughout the day to day (lack of dual processor). Subsequently those emotional states become heightened and distorted, and so does ones perception of 'reality'. When you hear of people doing crazy things having been wacked out on speed for a week, they are simply suffering from emotional psychosis nothing more.

Sleep makes our perception of existence episodic, and as a result we orientate our life around episodes. Without sleep there would be no need to regulate the world as we do. You could work for seven years straight 24/7 then take an entire years holiday. The notion of weeks/days would be unimportant, in fact I'd be surprised if we even acknowledged them at all beyond the darkness, seasons possibly might register to our perceptions, certainly without the need to sleep the world would be a different place, and most significantly the worlds greatest invention, aka the Duvet would never of come into existence

Both, sleep is cool but I usually try go forever without it.

Yes. You are all very sleepy...so, so sleepy. You will give me all your money....

me too. i've been prescribed sleeping pills and all sorts of stuff to make me sleep but i just can't do it sometimes. i'll lie in bed for hours and i'll be wide awake, then i'll get on with my 'normal' day then repeat the process again, only to lie there and wonder why the feck i can't sleep. sometimes my mind is overactive and i can't do anything to calm it down, other times i just have so much stuff going on in my head i can't get to sleep. the last time i had a good nights sleep was two weeks ago when i went out to get drunk. i came home and collapsed on the bed and promptly woke up 3 hours later without a hangover and i was wide awake. it's freaky the amount of time i can stay awake but *shrugs* i've got loads of time to get stuff done i suppose.

sleep is kewl, but I sleep too much.

10 - 12 hours a day given a chance.

Heh, yes it's true actually, science hasn't been able to explain why humans need sleep.
Of ourse, seeing it in a more practical way, our mind is a bit like a computer running on Windows. Flawed and unstable, after a while it needs rebooting..

After being awake for ~16h the brain needs to "defragment"/organize all the new information that we've gathered.

I must admit the whole humans are biological computers pov is very interesting. I was mucking about with my tv and put my finger on the ariel socket and the entire tv lit up with picture and sound. Must of been something to do with the electricity flowing through my body.

I was a basic television reciever for two minutes. :D

thats kinda freaky d33

and I love sleeping, its so fun. Just not early. when I WANT TO, not when i have to. and I hate waking up. I force myself to think about playing games which I tell myself is more fun than sleeping so I get up and play em. as for non-vacation days I have the motivation of seeing that girl at school. And not really doing anything about it. so yeah. thats my life.

One of the best things in the world. I must admit I have very strange habits concerning the time i usally sleep ( 04:00 - 15:00) nearly every day except the days i have to study:dozey: . Am I ill?

The human body actually makes a rather good ariel at times. Something to do with the large surface area and good conductivity along muscles and nerves.

If I grab the ends of my TV's rabbit ears, reception improves no end. But I can't be arsed to keep holding them like that, so I just put up with bad reception...

Well that may be true, Ive never heard it...but i recently read in Scientific American magazine that the non-REM sleep is needed because of our metabolism. Our metabolism generates free radicals-extremely reactive chemicals that damage and kill cells. So sleep (atleast non-REM) is used to prepare our cells that our metabolism damages. So if you dont get enough sleep you can actually suffer brain damage. I dont know about REM sleep though yours sounds good.

How tall are you?
Im 5'6 and I sleep alot also, I read in the article I mentioned above that smaller people/animals sleep more than bigger ones. Cant remember why but it has to do with the metabolism.

I'd be afraid of my TV if it started to go off my power like that. What if it got a taste for human blood or something? :)
