i got two IDENTICAL gigabyte 6600gts, both 'GV-NX66T128D's.
running Nvidias latest drivers

i switched the SLI card thingy over on the mobo to put it in dual mode, connected them together and booted up the PC, the nvidia thing popped up saying something about being able to use multi-GPU SLI mode... then when i go into SLI settings it says:

"You must remove any graphics cards that are not compatible with Nvidia scalable link interface (SLI) technology before you can enable SLI"

theyre both SLI ready and IDENTICAL!!!! running Nvidias latest drivers too

Does your motherboard have an on-board graphics chip? If so, disable it in the BIOS and see if it works then.

it doesnt im afraid.

dont you think its odd that most of the ppl of HL2.net put their specs in their sigs and claim to have the uberest SLI PCs (and big e-pen0rs), but no1 seems to know anything about SLI? i guess we can learn alot from the steam hardware surveys.

Are you running Windows XP? Because I know from experience 2000 doesn't work with SLI :-(

edit: Bah, ignore that, I re-read your problem and you are probably running XP from the sounds of the errors.

When I ran SLI, it was just instant and worked fine, swap the little card for dual video cards and launch Windows, click enable and it was good to go, nothing else to set it up.

Anywho... What's your motherboard model?
