I just loved the way that when the strider fired that wierd gun (and come to mentioned it you fired that new weapon of yours) the bodies ragdolled but in slow motion. I wonder if thats a weapon specific feature or is the engine seriously able to support slo-mo?

Can anyone say "Max Payne Mod"?

when they're fighting the strider in the courtyard in the E3 video

Slow motion is possible in HL (take a look at The Specialist mod), therefore i assume slow motion to be in Hl 2 either.

The same kind of thing happens in CoD, if a tank fires close to u u fall to the floor, get a blurred vision , loss of sound and slow motion, hope they do the same thing in HL2 (but a bit updated and better lol)

yes good point, i forgot about that, but this is the first time single player and the slo-mo seems to be localised too

Another thing that i'd love from CoD, is deathcam. For monsters as well!

It would be so cool to see what the combine were doing just before they killed you. Great way to show off the AI.

Add a small negative gravity (or actually positive, since the default gravity is -9.81), like 3 to affect the ragdoll and that's it. Simple things usually are the best.

but vertical forces won't have any effect on horizontal movement. Shooting a can at point blank range will cause it to shoot away at the same rate as in normal gravity, it will just go further before hitting the ground.

I´m sure that slo-mo is possible but that is still just antigravity. You see the same effect on bodies when that gun is being used (those lightning balls) and theres no slo-mo affecting gordon at that point.

The Strider big gun is the same as the alt fire on the flare gun.

It suspends an enemy in zero G for a second than collapses the body into itself causing it to go Poof!

Slo-mo would be quite the cool effect, but a Max Payne partial conversion mod would be really lame. Why make a mod of a lesser game out of a greater game? :|

it looks slo-mo though (you can see it in the buggy demo to, with the mines)

Slomo isn't just something you can mod in. In the case of games such as Max Payne, the engine and all the actions that occur in it are designed to adhere to a global time, so changing the global speed affects everything accurately, including physics, animation, AI, and sound. Hopefully Source is either so modular that a mod to implement slomo is possible, or they've implemented it already. If valve decided to run the physics (for example) at a constant speed, assuming 60 secs per minute, regardless of the rest of the game, a slomo illusion would be hard to pull off.

So has anyone determined if it is possible to kill a strider yet?

I'm sure it is possible, but I'd like to know for sure.

It wasnt slow mo
in one of the videos, the strider dies...

Forget a Max Payne mod, make a Matrix Bullet-Time mod :)

I've looked back on the vids and you don't see the strider die... You see one run away but it stops and carries on shooting.

Personally I'm gonna wait till the game comes out and find out on my own how to kill the damn thing. Last thing I want is to know the weakness of possibly the coolest looking enemy to date.

Err, where? Link?
And right, it wasn't slow mo, just zero-G ragdoll.

Also, a slomo mod would be a waste of time, MaX Payne 2 already has physics and ragdoll, why waste time?

Sorry, but it's a bad idea.

oh yah guess your right it doesnt die... it kneels down and starts runing real fast. But why would they be shooting it if you cant kill it? ;)

GIVE ME THE SPECIALISTS SOURCE!!!
or even better The Specialists 2 (on source)
