It's directed by Danny Boyle (Shallow Grave, Trainspotting, 28 Days Later, Sunshine), so you know it's good.

This film is incredible. It's about a boy from the slums of India called Jamal who ends up winning the indian version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. He knows all the answers because all of the questions are related to events in his life. The authorites are convinced he's cheating because he's just a slumdog, so the film is a sequence of flashbacks from his life.

Seriously, it's City of God mixed with Oliver Twist and is incredibly life-affirming. It looks and sounds amazing and is a front-runner for the Oscars. I dare you not to have fun watching this film.

I want to see this. The story sounds amazing.

I read Q&A, which this film is based on. It's quite a good read, I'd recommend it. When I heard about this film, I was very confused. In the book he wins a billion rupees, on an Indian game show, 'Who Will Win A Billion?'.

Why the **** isn't it called 'Slumdog Billionaire'?

I was pretty interested in this when I saw a few posters and Boyle's name slapped all over it, but now I really want to go see it after seeing that clip.

What are those scribbly things you just posted? Are they sum dem lettars i keep hearin' 'bout?

Pretty good film. For some reason though, i couldn't help but think the film could lose about 10-15 minutes and still tell everything it needs to.

Also, i'm gonna be nitpicky here and point out that while i agree with your "City-of-God meets Oliver Twist" description, the scale of its story is far more confined than those films/stories. I think its more like Oliver Twist meets Forrest Gump, in India. At times it also felt a little ... i dont know... manipulative. Like it was trying too hard to get the audience to feel sad or angry or hopeless or whatever.

Good film though, and i recommend it. Love the opening title.
