Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii) EDIT:SCREENS

I never thought I would say this, but this game looks fun. That METAKNIGHT (sp?) character looks ****ing fun as balls! I don't think I would buy it, but, I wanna play.

Oh jesus, I thought having three mates round with a few beers and a game of Melee was chaotic enough. Now with the new Wii controls I can see injuries and broken furniture. :D

They've said there will be no Wii motion-control in Brawl. They said it was taking away from gameplay (I figure due to the already complex nature of control for Smash Bros). Fine by me. I just want my SSB.

I get the feeling that they only would have gone with the Wii controller if they decided for ths SSB to go into a 3d fighting environment.

Anyway, this is definitaly one of the must own games comming this generation. :D

Though it would have worked well as a replacement for the C-Stick in Melee. :\

Well what about doing the regular, strong and smash attacks otherwise? While swinging the controller it'd either have to determine just how fast you're swinging it or you'd need another button to press. Also there's the potentially disorienting combination of jumping into the air, doing an air attack, special air attack then air dodge and then controlling your decent then doing a smash attack all while pressing various buttons and making various waving motions making sure you did the wave just right or else you might do the strong attack instead of the smash or something.

With the complexity of controls already in SSB games I'm not surprised they're keeping the motion control out.

Yeah, this 2-D sort of game is where motion control isn't as necessary.

Although it would be pretty awesome having your character jump and flip wherever you gesture.

I was in the middle of an ICT lesson at school when I found this news out and almost bounced out of my chair.

It is incredibly exciting news and the inclusion of Pit gives way for the major possibility of a new Kid Icarus game for the Wii.
Also it's nice to see the final inclusion of Wario. I was always dissapointed that he was missing from the two previous installments considering he is considered a major character in most other Mario spin off games.
As for Snake, having not played any of the MGS games, I cannot really comment on how thrilled I am. I guess it's an incentive to borrow some of the games off someone before this game comes out.

And, I am also glad that they did not try and tack on motion sensing to a game mechanic that is very near perfect in the first place. I assume it will be able to be played with the new "Classic Controller," so it won't feel like playing with an old game.

Either way, this is possibly the best news revealed outside of the conferences that I have heard so far.

As for MGS, DEFINITELY borrow MGS (or get your hands on Twin Snakes for GC) and play it. Then of course play the subsequent sequels and introduce yourself to some of the best stories ever told in games (if you like modern military settings with conspiracies and twists with some philosophical themes).

And a haphazard collection of the more... interesting... story elements this side of Alice In Wonderland :p

I am absolutely getting a Wii on launch day. Though it's too bad SSBB won't be out then.

Hopefully they'll decide to give him the socom or something.

I mean, Fox and Falco got handguns, so I don't see the issue there.

The Metal Gear Solid series is like the best part of every spy/action movie combined, except with a plot that's smarter than them all.

The only thing it doesn't have is aliens. :p

The more characters the better tbh. SSB could make any game character fun to fight with. It'd be cool if SEGA and Nintendo work together to get Sonic, Knuckles, Tails, Shadow and some other Sonic series characters into the mix, would be fun :)

What characters would some of you guys like to see added into the brawl? :D

Quoted for truth one hundred times... They should just have a huge list of characters :D

It would just be so awesome and add so much replayability...

Agreed. I remember in SSBM i played it so much to complete the game with each character. Still play it every now and then with some friends :)

To be fair, there could be more characters added in the coming months.

How bout one or two of the BattleToads. I vote for Rash and Pimple. WOO.

Oh god yes.

I'd hate to see Master Chief in SSBB. I just don't think he'd fit in. He hasn't got any melee moves (apart from when he attacks with his weapons) and i don't think he'd fit in with the "cartoony" feel of the game. Snake kinda fits in because the story he comes from is kinda anime inspired (huge robots, exo-skelentons etc etc) and he has melee moves.

Plus Snake is just so much cooler :D

master chief can punch with his fist while holding the odd ball, and one of his special moves could be to whip out the odd ball and use it to hit people .. i think they'd manage to fit him in, but they won't.

they should do a vote thing on their site, and have like 20 popular characters from games (and maybe even movies, but sort of geeky ones that we'd allow :)).

As long as Master Chief isn't in it...that idea is fine by me :)
It would never happen because Microsoft owns Master Chief. He would never show up on a Nintendo until Microsoft stops making consoles, and even then - Microsoft still have 'Games for Windows', so thats why I say it will never happen.

For example, SEGA stopped making game consoles, which is why you see Sonic on the other systems now. Before, when SEGA made consoles, Sonic was their biggest weapon against Nintendo's Mario and never made any appearances on a Playstation or Nintendo.

Now that Nintendo has decided to 'never turn off' and have built in internet with the Wii, you could see more characters added even after the game hits stores as well. Adding a new character is a ton of work though, so it wouldn't likely be free, but free or not, it's still possible.

Snake is owned by Konami... he's in the game. :p

Master Cheif could appear in the game if talks between Nintendo and Microsoft allowed it. But i don't think Nintendo would see Master Cheif to be a good addition to the cast tbh.

Konami doesn't make consoles. Konami will make a game for any profitable system. Sometimes a console manufacturer will "bribe" a developer to keep a game exclusive, and sometimes the developer just doesn't have the resources, or the nerve, or doesn't see it as profitable enough to create a game for certain consoles.

So just because Konami is creating a game for the PS3, that alone doesn't stop them from making the game for other consoles, it's something else, like what I have mentioned. So you might see Metal Gear for an Xbox console or a Nintendo console, if this doesn't violate any financial agreement with Sony that they probably have made.

It's different because Microsoft wants you to buy a Microsoft console. If the only thing you like about Microsoft is Master Chief, and now you can play master chief on a Nintendo, why would you buy a Microsoft console?:dork:

It surprises me that someone here might not know this - this is video game 101 here, but I have been playing video games and reading about the video game industry since the early 1980's, while many of you weren't even born yet, so I can understand.

looks good, but the Antilasing (sp?) looks terrible

I dunno. It doesn't look as bad as some titles for even the 360. And considering SSBB still has just under a year of development time left, don't count the game out just yet.

sweeet! anyone else dissapointed at the graphics?

Not at all. They are adequate for a next-gen system, not to mention graphics to me are a pretty small factor in buying the game. Gameplay is what matters

The graphics on the Wii aren't next-gen quality at all. They're, at best, a step above Chaos Theory on the Xbox.

But it's gameplay that counts, and if the demos are any indication, Wii is going to be the best console to come out in a long time.
