Smoke and wind and such.

no, because volumetric smoke/fog is not dynamic.

Anyone got a link to decent site which can define things like volumetric and dynamic and things like that so that people can keep up to speed with the discussion? Even I know dynamic but I was using it as an example.

Interactive smoke/mist would be difficult as it would require the simulation of many many particles. About the same processing load (slightly less) than virtual water.
Wrong. Nothing to do with the amount of particles, just the amount of forces applied to them

I don't believe there's any engine at the moment capable of a particle system that's physically simulated
Physically simulated particles systems have been around in games for about 8 years

I'm guessing there's a particle system
Well, as there's particles in all the movies, I don't think we need to guess.

None of you really know what you are talking about do you?

BTW - 'dynamic' does not mean 'interactive. it means 'changes'

Yes but the only for the player to be involved in those changes is to interact with it or for some other (non scripted) facet of the environment to interact with it. Duh!

We're not talking about dynamics in terms of definiton but in terms of gameplay:dozey:

Yes and if the player or another non scripted agent is involved in those changes then we are talking about interactivity, not dynamicism.

The mist/fog rising from the street in the HDR demo video are perfectly subtle and realistic. That's what I wan't from a particle system- to give an added feeling of immersive realism, not to advertise themselves... "hey, look at this great particle effect!"

Wow. I didnt even notice that! Nice found!

Yes there are games who have that. The Novalogic engine used for Commanche 4 has it, so I suppose Black Hawk Down has it too.
When you would hover above a fire, the smoke get's blown away sideways in the right direction.
