Snarks?

cute, thier not so cute when they attack u, but i'd really like to see shock troopers make a comeback they were awesome, they had some of the best AI.

You mean from "Blast Pit", right? That's the tentacle. Classic.

Anyway, really, so what if they don't add snarks? How long would you think it'd be before a fan added them on their own? With the freedom of Source, I bet that would be a reality fast after the release.

such a good point, everything that people think should be in the game from the first one shall be really easy to implement, it'll be like HL.

The classic order MP maps, SP Maps, MP Mods, SP Mods, total conversions. Cannot wait for it to take off. As long as people don't start charging for their mods, or if they do charge something miniscule, the MOD community is non profit, it is fun, making it financially based shall really screw people out of some great games.

Snarks were the coolest weapon. I used to use them with great effectiveness as Scouts in HL1 MP. Get on a high point throw some Snarks down to find victims for you.
Got a good jumpshot going in throwing snarks up at campers too. W00T ;-)

They were almost as versatile as tripmines. I would use those to lock double doors, make stairs up walls and make sniping posts. LOL

I think that might be the coolest. thing. to see. ever.

I have a question; Where will you fight the aliens? Will you see a bullsquid on the streets of city 17 or will they keep to the sewers. I suppose the small headcrabs may be a bit all around. But where do the hound eyes keep to in the city?

I think the bullsquid is more of a sewer creature, i just hope boss killing is more creative , like the first time u encounter the pit worm, u had to trun on all that stuff, same with the tentacle, but after u played through em about 3-4 times it started getting easy.

I hope that they dont have bosses. Striders could appear as "bosses" that you have to get past. I loved the Garg and tentacle but I don't like that all of a sudden there's a previously and never since seen creature. Yes the garg and tentacle DID appear in a one more place in HL but you know what I mean.

thats why i liked the pit worm from OP4, u listen to ur squadmates over the radio and u run as fast as possible to get to em, only to find em dead, then u open the door to see one of the most terrific looking bosses ever, alotta of in-depth action there.

yep, that was great.

I think bosses are important.Just not the idiotic "Shoot 50 million times with a rocket" type boss.(Though if you are good enough or turn on cheats you can defeat the Garg and the Nihilanth with standard weapons)
And Rimmer the "you never see it again" argument doesnt work.On a battlefield you wouldnt be cutting through a hoard of 5-Star generals or be faced with an Armada of top of the range fighter jets as they are too scarse or important to be used for standard wet work.

Top of the line fighter jets are mass produced and 5-star generals aren't on the battlefield at all.

They hide away in their mysterious caverns on Xen practicing to say Freeeeeeemaaaaaan...

Yea, I hate the whole idea of bosses too. The way Valve did it with Half-Life 1 was very nice. It didn't feel like a boss fight, but you knew the oppent(s) was much tougher than your normal foes.

Yeah but you would hold back an F-22 for more specialised missions then you would an F-15 or F/A-18.
And about the generals thats me point,The Nihilanth and most other end of game bosses are Generals or Presidents or something important and thus wouldnt appear every 30 sec.

Now back to the Snarks.I posted yonks ago about my planes for a snark Mortar. It's something I'd like or will add(Depending on whether i can pick up the games editors) which fires a sort of cluster munitions of Snarks. Its fired,it raises to a high altitude opens up and disperses its teeming cargo onto the heads of the unsuspecting combine and the hopefully soft head of the Strider.

Snarks against a Strider... that'd be something to see... or squint at from a safe distance...

if not in single player, they should atleast have them in some sort of expansion, or possibly multiplayer.

I would like the Shock Trooper to be in HL2 instead of snarks because I hardly ever use them (Finishing replaying HL1... after that OP4... :) )

Well, a baby shocktrooper/spore launcher might be fun. But not as much fun as snarkage :)

Snarks pissed me off in HL1 because they made me waste so much ammo in "forget about freeman"

From what I have seen thus far there are no snarks, but hey they had over 6 months to add new stuff so you never know.

Thanks Patsy

I do hope that's not "beta" info.

And if you're Patsy, why do you keep thanking yourself?

Carrying snarks creeped me out...it was moving and you were holding it! :x

She referred to "Thanks, Patsy."

I was trying to point out the lack of an apostraphe. Or maybe it's a comma. I always forget which is which...

If there arn't going to be snarks someone should make a model and AI code for them and demand that valve puts it in a patch

The Snarks should return as NPCs that you can have interactive conversations with.

i hear somewhere but cant remember where that snarks will indeed be in hl2!

I think that you will be primarily fighting the combine in city 17, and will only see aliens when you are outside of city 17, or maybe some of the darker parts of the city. It seems as if they wiped out the Xen in the city.

i remember a friend telling me the snarks will be in hl2 but can't remember where he heard that, so it's spec. on my behalf i suppose.
