And I don't feel an ounce of sympathy. Is that bad?

It means that if you had gone out with her, you wouldn't have wanted to go on a second date.

I don't really understand how you cannot have sympathy for someone who is obviously going through a very hard time in their life.

Just keep them away from sharp objects. And trim their nails.

Oh yeah baby, you like it when I ride you like this?
Oh yeah...
Ohhh you like it when I SLIT YOUR ****ING THROAT WITH MY TOE NAILS!?
OH SHI!

I think it is sad that you don't feel a bit of sympathy -- Did you feel sympathy for when when you went out with her?

Maybe she did something to him that he's not telling us. :O

He just said he didn't go out with her, foo's.

He just said ALMOST.

I was about to laugh when I realized theres a couple of girls whom i formerly dated who would benefit from therapy or counciling.

:|

I've already been to counciling once. Walked in, filled out a paper, he asked a few questions and then stated after "you're sane, you just have an anger problem"

Well, the big thing is, institutionalized for WHAT?

If it's something like schizophrenia, then I wouldn't blame you for not having any sympathy. Her fault for not getting those voices in her head checked out sooner. Catch schizophrenia early enough, and you can live a perfectly normal life.

If it's something like anxiety, then I wouldn't blame you for not having any sympathy, because that means she's a self centered prick who needs to suck it up and learn how to deal with it via counseling. ATTENTION WHORE MUCH?

Well, actually, I don't think there's any reason to sympathize with her. If a mental illness is so bad that you need to be institutionalized, then that means that you'd need meds. If it's so severe that you'd need meds, then you'd have probably noticed the illness BEFORE institutionalization. If you didn't decide to go to a doctor when you started hearing voices in your head, thought you were the anti-christ, or saw faces in the wallpaper, then you're a lazy shitbag.

I'm sorry if that offends you, but that is one of the most ignorant opinions on mental illness I've ever read. Actually, I'm not sorry.

Well granted, things like schizophrenia might/will seem perfectly normal to the sufferer, but if you have severe bouts of depersonalization, or are bipolar, and don't notice that SOMETHING is wrong, then really, WTF.

Although I will say that my previous post was rather overly harsh.

I was saing MAYBE might have had sexual relations that went sour and she cat scratched his nads like that chick in that one thread/article. Or maybe she did something else that was nasty.

I find it sad how little people actually know about mental illnesses. People with them suffer enough without the stigma attached to them.

Please try to educate yourself on the subject before judging someone so harshly.

Really, there are many reasons people don't seek help for their mental illness. Embarressment, for one. Would you want to admit your mentally ill? You might say "as long as I can get help" but very few people afflicted with mental illness especially with a somewhat non-relatable disorder like schizophrenia would admit it. Denial is another one.

I could continue the list, but I think you get the picture.

I used to have some severe depersonalization. I dunno how you'd not notice that something was wrong.

I realize that manic depressives and schizophrenics wouldn't realize that something was out of the norm, but I've talked it up with people that are depressive, have anxiety disorders...

Oh **** it. I didn't mean to get people worked up with my previous post, and i'm sorry if I seemed insulting or ignorant. I suppose I was mainly trying to say, there are all these people out there that whine about being depressive/having stress disorders/general mood disorders/attention disorders/some sort of mental disorder, but don't ever figure "HEY, WHY NOT GO TO A DOCTOR?" or "hmm, maybe I might DO SOMETHIHNG to HELP my mental state, besides PUMPING MYSELF FULL OF TEMPORARILY SUPRESSING DRUGS?", and ended up coming off as an ass :(

I dunno about you guys, but i've found ALLOT of people like the above.

I've had some severe moments, where I was sitting in the corner, crying, shaking, screaming, and just freaking out, because I couldn't tell if I really existed, and I tell you that in a situation that severe, the first thing that came to my mind was "Get help", bypassing any sort of social boundaries.

The above is just a statement, nothing more...

You say some of the most inappropriate things I've ever read.
If you had any freinds you'd know you don't say that sort of stuff because it takes one person to have a friend./family member with mental illness and you get a nice fat punch to the head.

And you could really do with understanding the meaning behind "I think therefore I am".

people with that attitude should burn. disabilities or any other medical condition shouldnt get in the way of a relationship, let alone a DATE! bloody hell.

hope a bearded lady shoots a dwarf out of a cannon and kills you for that. police can then record it as a freak accident.

ok, pathetic joke aside, i hope you soak the matches in petrol the next time you play with fire mate. i see you have tried to apologise, but seriously, anyone that makes fun of people with any form of 'disability' is just...inhumane.

Yeah bro, i agree with dynasty...

...i may do some pretty weird shit outside of this forum, but that was just ****ing wrong.

The intolerance was astounding.

...also, the apology made ya seem pretty weak... this is comin from a noob tho...

...besides i dont no ya so i wont judge. :$

All the lasses I have been out with need institutionalising. I'm sure it's nothing I do, I just seem to attract fruitcakes.

I think someone once said:

"This is why people who never speak to people in real life shouldn't be allowed on the internet"

After Sinkoman told him to be glad his best friend just died because life is crap.

Mental illness isn't a disability.

Yes it is. A disability is the inability to perform an activity in a normal way as a result of an impairment, and I'd say most mental illness fits that description. Stop trying to be a know-it-all, you've said some pretty stupid stuff as well.

Listen, just because you've had mental problems and sought help, doesn't mean everyone else who has a mental disability will "bypass the social boundaries" some people are taught that shrinks are "for losers" and therefore they instinctively avoid them. Or they don't want to admit it to themselves that they are ill in that area.

Also, the level of severity plays a factor. Some of these individuals are so wrapped up in their delusions they don't believe that they have a problem (even those with depersonalization, anxiety, depression).

Here's one example of how simply thinking "get help" doesn't always work. Say someone has severe social anxiety disorder/agoraphobia, you think that it will force them to see a doctor. No, that's like asking an arachnophobe to enter a room full of spiders.

You've claimed to have mental problems in the past, therefore giving you some insight into mental illness, supposedly. But, simply remember that not everyone with a mental problem will have the same thoughts as you, or even percieve it to be a problem to begin with. Even if they do, there are a myriad of obstacles for them you aren't considering.
