So about that Gauss Gun...

How come the Gauss Gun on the Buggy in Half-Life 2 doesn't bounce off surfaces like it did in the first game? Something similar to what the crossbow does, it used to reflect off walls/floor/ceiling when shot at an angle.

It seems that Gordon is now left with the gimpy version :(

i guess ggun took over, like in the 3rd id imagine theyll stick another gun diffrent in

It's not a Gauss Gun. It's similar to the one that was on the chopper.

The gun on the chopper is definitely just a chain gun. You can't deny that the gun on the Buggy is the Gauss Gun. It sounds, looks, and reacts just like it did in the first game.

I don't remember the guass gun bouncing off surfaces in the first game, nor the crossbow. :|

the crobar has a cool reflecting thing, just cane it at an acute angle at the floor and it'll spring off. The gauss gun i haven't seen reflect, but then i haven't really tried.

i dont remember them reflecting off walls, but i havent played hldm in a while, and i never tried it with hl1 sp

Oh wait, I'm thinking of the gun that they weld onto the hovercraft! *that* is the one that they got from a chopper!

Still, if it doesn't act like the gauss gun, then this seems to suggest that it probably isn't...

In HL the gauss gun's shots could ricochet off walls and stuff.
In HL2 the bolts from the crossbow can ricochet off of stuff.

It can reflect i made it on the house with the combine soldier at the buggy chapter, it actually even worked on the wood.

it's call wall gauss by the way, and i miss it on deathmatch.

The HL1 Gauss could shoot through walls as well as bounce off at wide angles (lower than 45° incidence, for example). It didn't always bounce, but most of the time it did.

The crossbow in HL1 did not bounce at all.
