So, has there been an "Official" delay announcement yet?

Have a guess.

I know there was a lot of threads before about the delay of the game, but it's getting worse now.

The game IS delayed.
 
Yeah, just like the Vievendi Emails was "Official" a few months back.

The e-mail was from Valve's Director of Marketing, Doug Lombardi. He release a press release saying that the game was delayed. And since, it has been confirmed once again by himself, Erik Johnnson (Valve's Project Manager) AND the several other fan sites that received the e-mail. The game IS delayed. It is.

i think we should all wait till the announcement. just hold up for 3-4days and then we will all here from valve...

final release date...

also on the city17 sites and german sites and gamespy, ign all say the same thing.

The expected release date is as yet unconfirmed but is expected October, November or December 2003.

arrgh crap.

well don't you think it is wierd how doom3 told the community straight away saying delayed till 2004 and it wasn't 6days before release with them.

and with hl2 6days away and a delay comes. and it could be a long delay that is strange!?

I think you're failing to understand the rather simple concept. Valve Software's Director of Marketing has sent out an e-mail to everyone on their Press Release mailing list stating that the game is delayed and as yet it is unknown when the game will be released, but is expected "Holiday 2003".

ok the delay is true and annoying but i know it will be delayed for sometime this yr. i hope october i think 80% october IF the delay is true.
10% november and 10% december.

but NO way delay fr 2004! they would of just said it straight away!

Gabe Newell is the CEO and Managing Director of Valve.

Doug Lombardi is the Director of Marketing for Valve, therefore he is the person that makes press releases such as the one he made yesterday announcing the delay.

Erik Johnnson who also has confirmed the delay is Valve's Project Manager. He would have also have had a say in the decision to delay the game or not.

The game is delayed Dsty. It is. I'm sorry, but it is.

As the director of marketing represents "Valve software" and Gabe is the president/founder of "Valve software", Wouldn't Doug infact represent "Gabe Newell"? What part of this do you not understand? THE GAME IS "OFFICIALLY" DELAYED.

I get it. He is starting to piss me off though, and more info from the team would be nice. They do have all content servers except speakeasy up now though.

Oh well, although I still don't 100% believe its delayed It's starting to look that way. I'm not mad at Valve, most games don't make there release dates anyways
 
those idiots at valve needs to make a news page on their webpage. press releases should be on their own website. not a bunch of sloppy emails
 
They're not going to give us anything more than those e-mail which I think is ridiculous. They owe us an explanation considering the way they decided to lead us on. I'm not pissed at Valve and still want HL2 badly. I can handle any wait, but they simply should have told us sooner. my one guess is that Vivendi finally strong armed them over the release, why else wouldn't they give us an explanation?

Edit: Hopefully someone from the gaming press will have the balls to ask them either at Tokyo on friday or Alcatraz on tuesday why it's been delayed now?
