Heya Hl2.net, just wondering who your favorite music artist is. Feel free to name them and their band, maybe musical genre as well, whatever you reckon. Maybe even why...?

Mine is Armin van Burren cause of his additions to the international trance and dance scene. Great work throughout the years and amazing live sets with other massive world reknown Dj's (in Perth too! :D) make me addicted to anything this bloke puts out.

So HL2.net, who is your fav hero?

Mine is Incubus and Hoobastank. Both similar sounding bands have an alternative rock style like no other, having spacey, funky and "epic sounding (vocal styles you hear in symph.metal songs only)" ballads of rock infused in all their songs, and they have performed together in many occasions.

Tim Armstrong, he's done so much crazy crap here in the Bay Area that it's hard to find something he wasn't involved in or he was involved in and isn't awesome.

I think for people I respect for doing as much as they possibly can do make fun and interesting music that doesn't stay within the lines or the box, I'd have to say Les Claypool and Mike Patton. But regardless of original and zainy music, even the stuff they make that I'm not so much into, it's fantastic to see them doing so much for music.

Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse, too.

John Lennon - no explanation needed

David Bowie - no explanation needed

Keith Richards - he's just so freakin cool

Iggy Pop - ****ed up genius

others but can think of them atm

I suppose in a way i like Armin Van Burren, but only because of this truly awesome chillout song:

But anyway, my REALLY heroes are easily:

-Brandon Boyd from Incubus because of his voice and epic lyrical talent.
-Chris Rea for his voice and chilled style.
-Mark Knopfler for the simply unbeatable way he made his guitar...sing.

Jimi Hendrix, Matt Bellamy and Thom Yorke here.

Alex Lifeson - His guitar talks, man! He's my #1 hero.
Geddy Lee - Singing, bass, keyboard, what else do I have to say?!
Paul Gilbert - The best technical guitar player ever. He's amazing. Period.
Steve Harris - AMAZING bass player. Plus, I love Iron Maiden.. He created them!

D'oh, how did I forget John Lennon and Paul McCartney. I should smack myself.

Brian May - Awesome guitarist and also astrophysicist.
David Bowie - Ingenious artist.
Mike Oldfield - Pure genius.

Notorious

Bee

Eye

Gee. I don't give a **** about anyone else.

I think Maynard James Keenen is a pretty cool guy. eh sings about his penis and doesn't afraid of anything.

lol :naughty:

What do dead beetles and John Lennon have in common?

They both live off dead Beatles

Steven Drozd from The Flaming Lips, he's brilliant, plays drums, guitar, and keyboard.

Shuki Levy. Can we list Gods as heroes? He's composed the greatest songs of our generation. Everything he writes is the most epic shit you'll ever hear; so much so that I am dead convinced that he is no mere mortal. Mere mortals might have a couple awesome songs, they might top the charts with a hit now-and-then, maybe write something moving or inspiring or just plain enjoyable, but EVERY song Shuki Levy has composed is like that. His shit's downright magical.

In fact I'm also dead convinced he's written a few songs that cannot be released to the public because, should mortal ears hear them, some serious shit will go down. Magical shit. I'm talking about bending time and space and reality here, folks. That's the kind of stuff Shuki Levy writes. He's a God.

Travis Barker.
hands down the greatest drummer i have ever seen.
i wish to one day be as good as him

Levy's best known work is soundtrack compositions for children's television programs of the 1980s, such as Inspector Gadget, The Mysterious Cities of Gold, M.A.S.K., Dinosaucers, Dragon Quest, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, G Force (aka Battle of the Planets; Eagle Riders), She-Ra, and Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors. In the 1990s, he became known chiefly for his work on the Power Rangers franchise, Masked Rider, VR Troopers and Big Bad Beetleborgs. He has also written and directed numerous episodes for some these television shows, and directed a few movies, such as "Eye of Doom" (1987), "Perfect Victims" (1988), and "Blind Vision" (1991).
I can see why you like him, Darky...

Richard D. James, Thomas Jenkinson, Trent Reznor.

I'm not sure if I'd consider Sean Booth and Rob Brown heroes or if I just have have a deep-rooted urge to get inside their heads.

Tchaikovsky: Added so much not before seen expression to classical music and music as a whole.

Syd Barrett: Kind of like Tchaikovsky I can't think of anyone before him who could add so much distortion and otherworldliness to music and still have it work.

Robert Fripp and everyone in the early line up of King Crimson: Only people in my mind to get progressive rock and Jazz fusion right and was one of the few rock bands with a poetic fantasy like sound.

Brian Eno: Extremely innovative concept of ambient music.
