I built a low end server for an 8 person dedicated CS game. What do i need to download/install to have a dedicated 1.6 server that i can control from a different computer? thanks

HLDS.

FTP: ftp.valvesoftware.com
Username: hlserver
Password: hlserver

Past that, all you really need to do is set the basic server up and assign an rcon password. The client can control all server commands through the rcon prefix after setting this rcon_password to the assigned rcon password.

eg.
HLDS: rcon password hlserver
Client: rcon_password hlserver
Client rcon sv_gravity 500

HLDS = Half-Life Dedicated Server

HLDS is for all versions of CS, the FTP which I linked him to is a stand-alone, dedicated Steam server. You don't need a CDKey to download/run it.

Shuzer, the biggest available file from that ftp you gave me is 2.98 megs, not 500 like you said. Are you sure you gave me the correct link?

DL the file. It's a DOS program that downloads all the needed files from their servers.
Check the readme in the win32 folder.. (or the respective OS)
