I have to say, it was a very good game. The final boss was an awesome fight (though kinda easy :\) and i really don't see why some people hate the game.

My hand shoots bees. Any argument you have against the game is invalid.

My shotgun has gears and steam-tanks on it and shoots ****ing lightning bullets, your argument is DEAD.

Good game. Would have been better if they had differed the powers a bit. Like the fire could be a flamethrower and the lightning could be like force lightning instead of all the powers just being the same projectile. Its little things like that which brought it down.

I recently beat it too. Well, twice that is, so I could see both endings. It took me almost the entire game the first time to get into it, but after that I absolutely loved it. The good ending is much better than the bad ending.

Psst. It's called the Chemical Thrower. and in Bioshock 2, the Incinerate CAN be a Flamethrower.

I dunno. I have mixed feelings about Bioshock. The story had a lot of potential, but thanks to the fact that most of the story is told through tapes it's very easy to get an incomplete picture. What I got was not interesting enough to go back and search through tons and tons of dark levels to find the pieces to fill the gaps. The rather awkward and lackluster combat further prevented me from desiring to replay it for that reason. The plasmids and tonics and all that were a neat idea, but ultimately I found that I used the pipe wrench most often, by virtue of the fact that the guns pretty much sucked and selecting the correct plasmid to use takes time that you don't have in a situation. You also didn't need THAT many plasmids and tonics, as there were so many that they became unintuitive for the player that doesn't really care to get to the core of the premise (such as myself, for I don't have all the time in the world). The enemy AI was also pretty lackluster, and the final boss was a joke (as were the endings).

Overall, I personally didn't think the game lived up to the praise and hype it received. It had a lot of potential, especially in the storyline department, but ultimately it fell short thanks to the high chance of incomplete storytelling and the pretty lame combat. Maybe it just wasn't my cup of tea, but if I had to give it a score, it'd be 7/10. (*GASP*)

Just about to finish playing through it on a trophy collection run for the PS3.

On Hard, the Big Daddies are damn tough. They get easier as you progress though I found. First few I found quite hard. The last few, I had upgraded the crossbow fully and had maxed incendiary bolts.

4-5 of those and the Elite Rosie's are down. You just zap them with lightning between each shot, they barely move.

Some of these achievements are pretty hard to get though.

Survivor mode with no chambers? Youve gotta be KIDDING me!

And Sander Cohen is just...god he's legendary.

All it means is that you need to play it like every other game is played. Save often. No ridiculous insta-respawns.

Yeah the chambers, come to think of it, make the game too easy. You lose nothing when you die, equipment wise.

And everything around you stays the same as it was when you die. So if you get a BD down to 1/4 health and he kills you, he still walks around with 1/4 health when you respawn and he's no longer mad at you.

Yeah, too easy with the chambers I guess.

I've always played the game with vita-chambers off. Gameplay is much more fun without them.

Also just doing it on hard. The game is rather difficult until you get Hypnotize Big Daddy (which is far too early), then you can kill Big Daddies with virtually no problems, and the splicers are rarely that troublesome.

Where do you find the option for turning off the Vita-chambers? I couldn't find it last time I tried.

Its under the options menu somewhere.

Playing it on hard with no-vita chambers made for a refreshing experience.

Why use vita-chambers if you have F8/F9? I constantly hit F8 :p

Gameplay options. Requires patch 1.1.
Still, apart from early Big Daddies and late Tommy Gun splicers, it's not that bad on hard with vita-chambers off. And the boss is as easy as he's always been. Electric gel with Electric Flesh 1 +2 and heat-seeking RPG's, combined with some medkits and Healing Expert 2+3 and the battle is much easier than the bouncer in Medical Pavilion.

I loved the game, but railed against it on forums because it was a pale, pale shadow of System Shock 2 in terms of atmosphere.

It beats System Shock 2 by far in the most important respect to me: Availability. It's bloody impossible to acquire SS2. Oh, and the demo constantly crashes for me. More than constantly.

I watched a friend play it on xbox before someone gave it to me for Christmas. My friend loved the game but also thought the ending was lame, and didn't like the part where you dress up as a Big Daddy. When I played through, I was fine with becoming Big Daddy but didn't like the end either. I didn't like the infinitely re-spawning Splicers though -- got annoying. Also, the overly-dramatic animation for saving Little Sisters with the glowing lights and crap made me laugh every time.

I didn't know there were multiple endings. It was a good game but I don't even think I could warrant another play through for another ending. Rarely ever have I played through a game a second time.

Bad ending sucks, just watch it on YouTube. The good ending is not that bad.
