...and I know there are lots of you out there who have them, so advise me!
1) Do you think I really need a car charger? Or does charging it at home suffice?

2) I'm looking to buy an iTrip so I can listen via my car... Where's the best (read: cheapest) place to get it?

Thanks!

if your getting itrip, get the griffin itrip dock, it mounts on your car dash, charges the ipod and plays it over the radio. solves both at once

I can only answer for the first question, and I have an iPod mini.

It takes me about 3-5 hours to totally charge my iPod from zero battery life. I don't know the exact amount of time because I don't time it. The battery life is kind of short and my biggest dissapointment in the iPod (7-10 hours), but in no way does it make me regret my purchase. I love this thing so much.

To answer your question, I would say no. There's no need. I need to charge my iPod once every three days or so, and I just plug it in when I'm eating supper, taking a shower, or getting ready for bed. Remember, you don't necessaraly need to charge it all the way.

It comes with with adapter that plugs into a wall-outlet, so you don't even need your computer to recharge it. As long as you're somewhere with an outlet, you can recharge.

G'luck. Merry Christmas. :)

i also foudn that apple products are hard to find at other prices than the apple store, most places match it

Yeah, that too. All Apple products are so expensive.

I got lucky with my iPod. I had been wanting one for so long, but had no intention of buying one when I did. I was in Future Shop one day, and noticed that the iPod box was opened and "messed up", so I had them sell it to me at a discounted price. Wuhoo! :E

i get ipod cheap cuz i work with the only apple dealer in town. still have to pay a stupid levy on it though

do iPods come with an AM/FM tuner as well?
they are out of my price range tho.. yeah imma poor bastid :(

not they dont, but you can buy add ons for it

edit: o0o0 post 600. only took me over a year

I have an Ipod (15GB) and an Itrip. The Itrip can really suck your battery away fast. Not to mention the longer you have the ipod and the more you charge it, the shorter the battery life becomes. Belkin makes a device that holds 4 AA batteries and sticks onto the ipod and turns the battery life into days. Came in handy when I drove a rental car across the country.

Itrips only broadcast an FM signal. The best part about an Ipod is that it is a portable 15GB hard drive. I use it to move data all the time. Bottom line, get the car charger if you can afford it.

you can get an itrip from griffin that has a charger built in.
can also get one from monster cable

Definately get an iPod, i've got a 3rd gen and its great!

What I do, is leave it charging all night, and I tend to find that's enough.

You can get iTrip's pretty reasonably on ebay. That's where i got mine anyway :E

i would kill to get an ipod. i go to school in the city and have to wait for my bus or walk across campus all the time. i need 2 more referrals, so hopefully soon ill be able to get one soon.

they're worth the money, but don't get a mini. a fifth of the space for 5/6ths of the price.

I want an MP3 player, but I don't think I would use it to often, outside of my bus ride to school and 6th hour study hall...although I do need a flash drive so it would be like a 2 in 1 deal for me...IDK I am stuck, are any of the cheap MP3 players worth it? Also, what is the scam going on here? http://www.zlappy.com/products/ipod.html
The prices are too low....nm I found it out. You have to pay $50 to become a member...

If anybody wants to pool some money together to get an ipod off that site(like 5 people so we each only pay $10) I will make the account and if you send me the money+shipping and handling($5 should cover) I can order the ipods...although organizing things like this on the internet never works because of fraud.

lol I would probably join up with you on this but I already have one.

I <3 Pepsi, got a 15gb one for free from them

how'd you manage that? just win it?

I asked my dad for one for christmas ... It's the only thing i'm really asking for ... that and a shower cd player that like hangs on the shower head ... sweeeeeeeet ... and maybe a punching bag ...

ok, I got it :) 20GB :)

now I'm just having trouble figuring out how to get music on it using itunes....

edit: it's kinda a pain that the ONLY way to do it is adding songs to your itunes library.... and THEN pluggin the ipod in.

i am stuck between getting the iRiver iFP790T 256MB MP3 Player and the
Creative MuVo Slim 256MB MP3 Player
:(

the iRiver one offers a longer battery life and i can always add other audio formats whereas the Creative doesn't but i love the design of the Creative one..

any advice other than spending more than $200 Canadian on an MP3 player?
im sorry for going just a tad off topic :(
go for the iriver, i talk on experience.

So, you're choosing style over substance? Nice move, seeing as it will be in your pocket where noone can see it. Why not get something with more functionality, at less cost?

who said I was choosing style over substance? maybe I bought it because I like that there are lots of accessories. Maybe I bought it because I deal with Macs alot at my work. Maybe I bought it because I liked the way it feels. Maybe I bought it because it has all the functionality I need.

Think of that?

Yes. For about 1 second. Then I remembered that people buy an Ipod because its an Ipod, and not a Creative Zen, or Archos, or any one of a million other devices out there that are better value for money.

And if you're buying it because it has all the functionality you need, then why not buy a cheaper device with similar functionality?

Let me repeat myself.....

I use macs alot. It is nice to have something that will easily function between both my pc and macs.

I like the fact that there are lots of accessories that I can get if I need to.

I bought it because I have held, listened, and tested the Zen, and the Dell DJ, and others, and the click wheel is by FAR the most natural and easy to use.

Just asking, whats the Creative Zen like?

And more importantly, whats the EAX on it like (And what does it do? if it has male to female I will go and buy one right away :p)
