I heard thats where they're releasing it to the international press. I can understand the locale only for the 'prison' section of the game, but how that relates to an American prison off of San Francisco is beyond me. Maybe they'll surprise everyone there by saying there's a free copy waiting for them in differently assigned cells, but when they go in---slam!!

The date is supposedly the same as the day the game ships--Sep. 30th.

There is some stuff in the forums about some kind of release of Half-Life2 at Alcatraz, or some such. I was just *wondering* if **maybe** somebody had more info on this, or if it was a joke that was circulated around.

As far as I know, that was just people comparing the prison level to Alcatraz, which is understandable.

Gamestar talked about an international press thing at Alcatraz, near the end of September. I don't know anything about it other than it's happening.

They are probably basing it there because the Prision level in Half Life 2 looks like it was based on Alcatraz, as a number of previews have stated.

I have no clue what you are talking about..this is my guess which is probably accurate. In a recent interview with someone from Valve, it was revealed that there will be some sort of press release/demonstrtion/free drinks and the real alcatraz prison. I reckon that that is the point where they set their alien horrors on everybody and demonstrate the accuracy of their game by populating the world with dimension-hopping aliens.

yes I know that he wanted to have something clarified...that "something" just wasn't clear enough..
