Well, someone got my card number and shit off of Ebay, and they shut my ebay account of, and due to suspicious activity, they shut off my debit card. Well, the thing is, I got the IP from the person who "Compromised" my account. So I tracked it to somebody in California...I'm not sure if that's reliable. But anyway, they tried to spend $150..failed obviously. So should I do something with this information, or maybe just forget about it? Would it be a fruitless endevour?

go to your bank they'll straighten it out ...if they believe there was fraud and money is missing they'll replace it ...happened to me not 2 months ago ..I got back all the money that was stolen

try not to use your debit card to much ..and watch for people double swiping it

this is why people such as myself have concerns about purchasing stuff over the net.
now granted stuff happens in real life as well but over the net u feel so helpless especially if the hacker/scammer knows his/her way around these things.

anyway i'd talk to my bank if i were u as Stern suggested.
i have one rule...only purchase something over the net if its something u can't get locally...luckily for me i haven't had too many situations in which i wanted something that wasn't available locally.

I buy stuff online from companies that have direct payment ...you pay it through the bank like your would any other bill ...no sensitive information leaves your computer ..the bank handles all that

um??? which bank?
i want such a convience card too!! :E

you just use your regular account ...you just buy it like you normally would and then when it's time to pay you go to your account and you pay the bill

ncix.com has it ..I've bought a few things from there (great for us Ontarioians cuz we dont pay PST) and it's always reliable because the bank does the transaction

1.) I already have gone to the bank, new card is on the way in 10 days..*10 days of no money! D:*
2.) Nothing is around here. NOTHING. Joplin, MO is the most worthless town I know of. I HAVE to get stuff off the internet, because the only things sold around here are games for 13 year olds *except walmart...but they don't have anything good.* and there are no good oddball retail stores around. Damn church run city...
3.) Pretty much this was me asking about if I should send the address/phone number in to the bank for them to deal with it..unless..that's what YOU'RE talking about :(

I worry about the security of paypal. :( It seems quite secure but its just one other place that your credit card information is stored.

I think they did a study on the safety of online buying before and the results turned out that your more likely to get robbed in a walk in store.

Remember, its not a fraud against you as you signed nothing - its a fraud against the bank.

Something like that happened to me a few weeks ago. Someone got ahold of my credit card number (somehow) and spent 700 dollars at a freaking gas station, for the love of God. Fortunately, my bank caught it and immediately reversed the charges, yet I was cardless for a week. Oh the horror.

Suckage. Oh well, I just wont use Ebay anymore on my account..use others...guh.

So do you have the address of this guy? You could really scare the crud out of him if you just sent him a letter telling him your coming. He would be paranoid for weeks.
