So u dont get HL:Source with the retail version , but can u download it as a mod?

valve said months back that stuff like dods, tfcs and hls would be avaliable for small charges via steam, correct me if i am wrong

Can you all be mindful of where you're posting these threads please.

you know, my friend bought hl1 and downloaded DOD back when it was a fairly new mod, for some reason he couldnt just DL it again and he had to pay valve 30 bucks for it. i really hope these source conversions dont cost 30 bucks a pop like the damned hl1 mods, seriously, they should make them 5 dollars. that seems like a nice price to me, valve makes money, everyone can afford them, and if you want to play DOD:S or whatever you have to pay the 50 or so for HL2 so it should boost sales. but wtf do i know really

They said it would be free, stupid valve, now i need to buy DoD:Source and HL:Source aswell.
It isn't like money grows on my back you know..

They never said CS:Source would be free.

It has been confirmed that CS:Source WILL be included with the purchase of ANY of the retail box OR Steam versions of HL2.

HL:Source will not be worth your money if you already own HL. It's a simple port, not a total conversion like CS:S...

for some reason i remember some news saying something like 5 dollars a mod? or maybe that was just the conversions like hl:s or maybe it was for every mod they re-release under the source engine

I think its really annoying that u have to pay to play these mods... Mods should be free and honest like voting in soviet russia! Damn capitalist world... :)

Just buy the Silver or Gold pack on steam, and you'll recieve HL:S when it's done (as long as the pack doesn't cost $1,500).

When they first announced all the source ports; they said they were still working out the pricing.. They never said ANYTHING was going to be free; except for when they announced that Counterstrike: Source was going to come with HL2. HL: Source, DOD: Source, and any other source mod were never announced to be "free"

HL:S comes with the collectors edition pack, but prices are still unconfirmed, that will more than likely be the pack any dedicated HL fan will buy, and its on a DVD rather than 6CDs so thats a bonus.

But those lacking a dvd drive are screwed.

guess its time to go buy one.

Actually any true half life fan would get the gold package off of steam.
1. You dont need cds or dvds. Just a preload.
2. You get the most with the gold purchase.
3. You support steam and valve the artists and not the publisher who does nothing (VUG)
so if your a true fan you will buy it off of steam and get the gold.

I'm a true fan and i don't want to mess my parents Credit Card, not to mention that none of us (my family) actually know how to buy a product through the internet, we tried once and followed steps and i really don't want to mess with this sh*t

It's better to get to the nearest Video Games Store (in my case, 2 hours driving) and buy the most expensive retail box (in this case it's the Collector's Edition)
