I just realized, we're going to play this game we waited so long for....it'll be over in about 20 hours gameplay....and...that's about it. There's CS:S which will be fun yes, and maybe DOS:S in the future....but it just seems like bam it'll be over, just like that.

Replay value! Mods! Half-Life: Source! Day of Defeat: Source! Counter-Strike: Source!

Why don't you read the Gamespot article and see why you're not completely correcct.

As a mod maker (level designer) playing the game is just the start...

The hl2.exe will be run many more times after you finish it. Yes CS:S and mods.

The Doom3.exe was uninstalled and never used again.

I don't see half-life 2 as a simple "play it, finish it and never touch it again" experience.

Physics... you can replay with the physics... the game will be very replayable.

Also, Mr-Fusion's point :D

episodic content, expansion packs, playing mods, replay value, mapping...

no but i think he's getting at what we'll do right after playing hl2? or are the mods gonna come flying? but i am for sure replaying the game over several times, like with pistols only? or maybe the manipulator? i beat hl1 with only the crowbar and thats difficult

I have read the article, I just think that even playing it over a few times, it's going to still wear out. Yea, hopefully new content is released, I'm waiting for DOD:S mainly....

OMG! Itll be over, but the G man, u can be with the Gman an experience u want to have over and over again

lol so true... although i only keep it on so i can see what some level designers can do with the engine more than anything :)

Honestly i think hl2 is gonna have a much much larger mod audience than doom3 will

I don't know about you, but HL was released 6 years ago and I still replay it occasionally.

Why would you attempt to kill your hero? Heroacide?

no i jus wanted to try and take his power, since i cant i jus praise him

I'm fairly certain the g-man would quell your feeble attempts at assassination. There will be no transferal of power today....

i heard it will be over 30 hours

I know, i was thinking about it. Source looks to be a new type of engine. I saw that sarcastically, but i think it's true in this sense. It is going to spawn mods that are a new type of game. Until now, game engines have progressed the level of detail. Source, however, looks like it has progressed the story and gameplay types with the physics engine and materials mapping.

I'm excited to break out of the "Quake, UT2kn, Lithtech, etc." engine games from our recent past - Call of Duty, Splinter Cell, etc. The intelligent, well produced games that are going to be produced by licensing Source will make a lot more games for us to play in the future.

Boo ya.

You heard wrong. Most reviewers said the game has about 15-20 hours of gameplay.
