So what about those of us who already have HL2, and EP1?

One should think that the way people are thinking that they thought if it hadn't included HL2 and Episode 1 it would be sold for like 5$

You know, I don't have my own Episode 1 copy yet. Would you mind giving me your extra copy? I'm sure you have friends who might like it themselves, but if you can't find anyone, I'd quite like it. :D

My extra copies are reserved by a friend of mine, but I'm really happy that you have found... "your benefactor" :D

Man, who CARES about the price?!?!? Remember what we're talking about here?! FRIGGING HALF LIFE. YEAH, WHO GIVES A FK BUY IT ANYWAYS YOU HAVE FUN AND FUND VALVE FOR EP 3 HOW BOUT THAT!?!?!

Yeah. :D

Thanks again Samon. My Steam nick is the same as my HL2.net nick, just so you know: Narvi in both counts.

Now I just have to wait till October for a gaming fix which I actually own. :p

Although I'd like to purchase ep2, portal and tf2 for less money (wouldn't everyone), I'm not really pathetic enough to start complaining about a measly £25.

I'd pay £25 just for ep2 alone.

Which is what is expected

Maybe they are trying to boost the sales of Ep1 and HL2, but they are certainly making money off of this. There is no reason that they cannot be offered separately on Steam, the overhead is small. I don't care about the other games I just wanted to play the next Episode and enjoy it, this adding games on is to justify the set

Ive already bought two games and use Steam somewhat, ive pumped enough money into here

You all do realize that if Valve had never announced the black box and instead had the orange box include only TF2, Portal, and EP2 for $45, every single person here would expounding praises of how wonderful and generous Valve is. Already own HL2 and EP1? Super. Valve is letting you give it to someone for free. Is $15 really that important to you? Just sell it, because $15 for HL2 and EP1 even today is a steal by any stretch of the word.

To who?

How would I do that, nobody I know plays this at all really

Still no reason for it to be bundled with this when i would probably pay more to have it

I guess the reason people are mad at this is, that the announced Black Box was ~30 bucks for the 3 new games, not including HL2 and EP1.

Now you have to pay 45 bucks for the 3 new games but get the other 2 for "free", when you were supposed to buy these 2 games with the orange box, too a few months ago - for the same price. "Hey we cancelled the cheaper box, you now have to pay the higher price, but don't worry, the goodies we added are now a "free" gift.

Now IIRC the black box was cancelled for retail, not steam - i could be wrong here. But it's the first time that i hear / read that there's no black box for Steam. It sort of does not make sense not to sell the black box. The only 2 reasons that come to my mind are: Valve was forced by retail sellers who sell the games in stores (EA maybe) to sell a full price bundle, so the retail copies don't collect dust in the stores, or Valve just needs more money after the episodes 1 and 2 were delayed already.

Yes: I agree, 45 Bucks for 3 games is awesome, but not THAT awesome, considering neither of them is a AAA title. Apart from EP2 - but that's just a relativle short sequel, worth 25 bucks maybe.

It's still a very good deal, but still for those who simply don't want to HL2 and EP1 again, knowing there once was plans for the cheaper black box it feels like a rip off.

I for example would have liked to buy the black box and play these 3 games but I was not too keen on getting the orange box - I was hoping for a cheaper package on Steam. For me 15 bucks DO matter. As a student I pay ~ 2100 bucks each months just for living and my university. For me it's the difference between going to cinema twice (or once, inviting my gf) or paying for 2 games I already own - considering the black box pricing some months ago.

Valve is surely trying to boost the whole HL2 franchise to XB360 and PS3, there is no doubt about this. I (as a PC gamer) understand the commercial decision and support Valve.

The following steps must be completed in the given order

Go to a retail game store
Buy 3 "New release" games that are as good, or even nearly as good as these 3 for $45
Come back here and bitch

See you in about, hmmm, never?

All five are AAA titles, IMO. If you want your $15 back, sell the code to someone who doesn't already own HL2 & EP1.

I already have retail copies of HL2 and Ep1 when they were each released. But if the copies that come in the Orange Box will have the graphical and source engine updates. I wouldn't mind having them included at all.

This deal is awesome, anyone can see that.

This is very simple, I do not want TF2 and barely will play Portal, they are minigames and not a full game, just bundled with a full game and expansion which I own.

There is no reason for bundling them up since OB will sell for consoles and PC is still open to a large collection, having Steam selling them separately would only mean less money and not as many HL2s being given to other people. Which is a stupid thing as I am not going to look for a buyer and do not need another copy so it wont go away from here

TF2 isn't a minigame. It's a full game.

P0rtal is another part of the HL2 story, it is not a minigame, meanwhile TF2 is multiplayer, perhaps the best MP evah.

http://storefront.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=all&initial=1&

All the new Orange box games are listed there, separately. Combined price - $80.

If i wanted to buy all or even two of them, but i only want the episode and not any other game. They can still offer it to everybody in this bundle but having it in a smaller one online was sensible, or even individually but they are pushing it in this set showing that the list is inaccurate since they would offer it individually at this price if they thought someone would buy it and decide later to get the other to see how it matters to the story or interest shown

Portal is similar but it is a puzzle game and not really part of the story

TF2 is looking a lot like ET and does not interest me

And they are using Ep2 to try and sell them, not offering them otherwise which does indicate them being viewed as not stand alone ready or for value

Half-Life 2 originally came with Counter-Striker: Source
Episode One originally came with Half-Life 2: Deathmatch
Episode Two comes with Portal and Team Fortress 2

I don't see the difference.

The Gman stuff is only there to lend it any story, it does not continue the main story.

And it will probably only show how the Gman got to or found this world, would not explain a lot

No, and infact the storylines will merge in Episode 3 where you apparently go to Aperture Science itself and uses some of it tech.

Hence my use of the word "separately". If you want to buy Episode 2 on its own, you'll be able to. For $30.

No offense, but your a retard. P0rtal is part of the HL story, and is apperntly quite important. Things that happen in portal will overlap with EpTwo - wether you want to accept it or not, p0rtal is like an episode on its own.

As for TF2, you haven't played it amirite. God, your being offered three quality games incredibly cheaply and your still bitching about it. People like you are prime examples of why the gene pool needs to be cleansed.

Look at this little thing, calling someone a retard and bubbling up the chestnut about the gene pool. A prime example of the arrogant dweeb shithead I have to converse with every time I go to a place like this. I do sometimes have to respond to you, but i dodge it at each opportunity. Lets start by saying how even dealing with you in this limited format is very repugnant so i will just stop before an exchange passes.

You dont really know much about the Portal storyline and cannot say where it can fit in

I dont need to play the team game and dont want to buy it, not big on these but do want some

You just gnaw at me so i will go do more constructive activities

Actually we do know much about the story.

Er...the portal inverviews...like we have said in other threads...many many times...I'd have thought with 253 posts you would have seen it.

arrogant dweeb

Irony...overdose...ARGH.

GreatEmporor: In this country, a single game for $45 would be a ****ing awesome price.
