$45 is a reasonable price even for Ep2 on its own. If you're that concerned about paying too much for it, get it on Steam, $30 should be easily cheap enough. Since when does the length of a game equal its value? Valve spent more than a year working on Ep2, and they've crammed a hell of a lot of work into those 7 hours gameplay. The reason they only retail the OB is to attract new fan who've never seen HL2 before, as I understand it. It may also be inefficient to have two different boxes on retail with overlaping content, I'm not sure.

I've already gotten my $45's worth from TF2. If it is any indication of the rest of the Orange Box's quality(save for the stability), then this is the steal of the century.

Yeah, I remember the early gameplay videos that had the glowing antlions and the eye shooting tripods. But in several months those had greatly changed. I think that the console stuff is really gumming things up.

Ive also heard it will take a while to release individually so im not looking forward to some wait

Yeah, for pretty much 15$ extra you get:

*Source(HL2/Episode 1) updates with hdr maps and achievements.
* Episode 2, which can approach the average gameplay time excluding achievements and replay on some newer titles, Medal of Honor: Airborne and Bioshock comes to mind.
* Portal, which again is part of the Half-Life story, as well as having some replayabillity to some degree.
* Team Fortress 2 which is basically the best replay value of all 5 titles included, i've already spent more time on Team Fortress 2 than i did on Bioshock 3-fold, and yes i completed Bioshock as well.

Turning this down for 15$ is incredibly stupid, and i actually hope that Valve will punish everyone at launch by permanently removing the Orange Box, but given that it probably will affect sales they won't.

Anyways the package is well worth the 45$ and i could've easily considered paying double.
