If I'm not mistaken, Aftermath was a temporary name for the expansion.

Lately, it seems Aftermath has become the official name for it, does anyone know if Valve will reveal the real name?? or is it gonna stay as Aftermath? what would you like it to be called?

I've come to accept it as Aftermath, so anything else that it is named will sound odd.

yeah, aftermath is a perfect subtitle. they better not pull one of those lame half-of-a-number stunts and go with "Half-Life 2.5" or something dumb like that.

Yeah, preferably Aftermath. Couldn't imagine it being anything else now...

If we wake up screaming, not liking the title, you'll get an urgent call from us...

What they said to PC Gamer.

yea it's kinda too bad
I liked how in the first 'set' of hl games, they all had physics-y names, what with half-life, opposing force, blue shift, decay...
well I'm not really sure on blue shift, but sounds like it to me

Blue shift would be the effect on a light source as it moves closer towards your eyes: because it's letting out light waves at the same time as moving towards you, the waves are getting squashed up and sped up towards the faster end of the wavelength, which is blue light.

:E

Well isn't Aftermath the "Aftermath" of HL2?

The big explosion = In HL2: Aftermath you will see the aftermath of the explosion.
Any better ideas?

"Aftermath" just plain lacks inspiration for me whereas Opposing Force, Blue Shift and Decay were inspirational titles. I guess that Valve just plain ran-out of physics terms or something... In fact, "Half-Life 2: Decay" probably would have made a good expansion title to keep with the theme.

Cursed be thou Gearbox, for squandering thy title upon the lowly Second Station of Play!

Must've missed the logo. Is it just the HL2 and aftermath like the HL2DM startup?

Half-Life 3-.5
Muhaha Math!!
Half-Life 2: The Expansion

Half-Life 2:The Guy In the Suit is really Paris Hilton naked with beer and pizza(Gordon is just on shrooms. When the vortigaunt was watching TV he was watching the paris hilton sex scandle. When the "G-Man" handed the guy a rocket launcher the rocket launcher was really a sex toy. When Breen mentions the contract he wants to hire you from paris to work at a gay strip club..you see it all makes sense!).

Actually it will be called:
Half-Life 2: Power Rangers

Blue shift wasn't a physics name (I don't think), think back to the blue shift game guide. Note Barney's timetable, it says he's working Blue Shift, and there are others called indigo shift........yada yada...

Although it could be......

Blue Shift and Red Shift are terms for the way light changes whether the object is moving towards you or away from you. It's one of the ways we know the universe is expanding.

EDIT: And while Opposing Force could, in theory, be referring to something is physics, it's probably a lot more likely it's referring to the common military term for "the enemy" given the military theme of the game.

I thought Blue Shift ment kind of Blue is the color of Barney's uniform, and Shift is self-explanatory (Night Shift, for example). So we kind of get a Barney's Shift thing.

I'd be pissed if it was called Gordon and Alyx's big adventure...

Let Valve never sink that low.......

Wow..And no blood, guts, and gore in it?

*descends from rafters on ropes in a beam of light*

The HL1 engine games all had intentional sciency-related pun names.

Of course it will! Sacraficing sheep involves that doesn't it?

Skulkdodds is right - Blueshift is a physics term. The opposite of redshift.
Yer right though - "Aftermath" isn't a physics title. I think EA have had the publishing deal done a long time ago so that they decided what to call the expansion, and make it non-physicsy ;).

Decay where the hell is that from? I"ve never heard of a decay expansion! I would have bought it by now!

It's both, basically. It is a physics term, but obviously also a nice play on words since Barney's uniform is blue and such.

Co-Op on PS2 Version. Do a google search and you'll see that someone is modding it to PC. ETA Autumn. Or whatever your region calls the months when the trees start falling apart.

I see so it's like sven co-op then.

And it is rather story oriented. I like decay, now I've played it again actually.

that's bs, why do console owners get an expansion that we don't, I'm still waiting for decay to be ported over. Half-Life is a PC game, if anything, it should be the other way around, us getting stuff console gamers don't have(expansions, etc)

Blah blah blah consoles suck.

They don't get online multiplayer. Or mods. Live with it.

EDIT: Although actually, split-screen deathmatch is fun. :E

Thank you captain obvious, that's what I just said

consoles should not get "extra" mods when the original game was made for the PC (Decay)

Why the hell not? PC games get extra features when PS2 games are ported over.

EDIT: Samon is saying what I was trying to say. Only more vehemently. Thus, I appear to have been grossly misinterpreted.

What the hell? Of course it isn't bullshit. PC game, console game? What the hells the difference. Just because Half-life is a PC game, doesn't mean console gamers shouldn't have Decay. If you want it, get a PS2 and buy Half-life for it. Ugh.

Sulkdodds: that annoys me as well, PC gamers should not get extra features when the game is ported over from a console, at the same time, console gamers should not get extra stuff when the game is originally for the PC.

Samon: I guess I don't mind PS2 owners getting decay, I'm just upset the PC version doesn't have it.

Its getting coverting by a mod team I think. So fear not. And it isn't integral to the story either, not to mention the fact it was Gearbox.
