Anyone have good recommendations for TV shows? Currently I am watching the following which I would recommend to those that haven't seen them:

breaking bad
the pacific
the office
south park
simpsons
family guy

shows I already finished watching which I would also recommend:

the shield
sopranos
LOST
24
Chuck (dont laugh)
Deadwood
Band of Brothers

Trying to think of other ones but can't right now. What shows is everyone else watching or already watched that they would recommend?

I heard flashforward might be ok but since it got cancelled I doubt it was all that great. I also read good things about Mad Man.

Dexter, The Wire, Treme, Babylon 5, Weeds (until the 3rd season), Firefly.

All are pretty great shows, especially Dexter and The Wire.

Seen the wire and weeds, forgot about them.

Babylon 5 is not my cup of tea, but dexter looks pretty interesting. And I totally forgot about Treme which looks very promising. Thanks.

Dr. Who I suppose. I don't watch it myself but I have a few friends who love it.

Yeah, second Sons of Anarchy. Makers of the Shield. Awesome stuff.

Dexter, The Wire and Tremé. Watch them. Watch them now.

I already miss 24 in a weird way as played out as it was.

I recommend house if you've never watched it tho the earlier stuff is the best. And I need to see the wire and dexter.

PS: even though its finished if you havent seen it watch six feet under, awesome show! :)

I have the first season of this show, haven't gotten around to watching past the first 2 episodes. Ok show, I need to get back in to it.

What about entourage? I heard some good things about it. Anyone watch it?

Oz is an incredible show, doesn't get nearly enough attention.

Edit: Arrested Development also isn't in your list.

I'll admit first season its a bit slow but it does pick up.

I should have added arrested development, forgot about it. Probably one of my favorite shows of all time. I just remember catching a few episodes of OZ as a kid. I will definitely check that out.

Good to know, I'll give it another look.

Great thing about Oz is the unpredictability. Because it's in a really ****ed up prison, ANY character can die and since the same level of introduction is given to a character when they enter whether they're going to be there for the entire show or just one episode, you never know who could be next. It's a really difficult show to convince people to watch, because prison dramas don't sound as if they can stay interesting for too long but the show is far more intelligent than it sounds.

The Sopranos, Rome, The Big Bang Theory, The Office (UK), Extras.

Nurse Jackie is my fix since Weeds turned shitty. It's really good. Trust me.

yeah i want to watch twin peaks too but i aint sure given its david lynch. You'll either love it or hate it i presume.

"Community" and "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" are two amazing comedy shows.

Carnivale-Great characters and plot. Got canceled way too ****ing early.
Rome-Tits, blood, gore and a history lesson. What more can you ask for?
Arrested Development-Underrated does not even begin to describe this gem of a show.
Curb Your Enthusiasm-Pretty good. Pretty, pretty, pretty...pretty good.
Fringe-So far, so good.

Rescue Me.

Seconded. June 29th baby.

Treme I hear is pretty good, but I haven't found the time to watch it (same creators as The Wire so I'm sure it's nothing less than great). The Pacific wasn't nearly as interesting as Band of Brothers for me, but it's worth watching.

As for comedies, Community is a bit bashful at times but still a good watch. But you can never go wrong with Always Sunny. I'd say catch up on your Futurama, if you've missed some, and get ready for new episodes coming in June. If you liked Arrested Development (****ing awesome show btw), you'll probably like Modern Family too. Blue Mountain State surprised the hell out of me for being a really decent comedy. It reminded me lots of some of the frat assholes I know from school. Speaking of rich assholes, Entourage is pretty addicting.

Oh and Dexter. Dexter. Dexter.

I find it curious that almost every other TV show these days doesn't last longer then 2-3 seasons,I mean don't do like test screenings and stuff?
And some shows they don't even give them the time to unfold, best example would be Firefly but more recent is the Sarah Connor Chronicles.
oh yeah No Limit you really must check out Dexter asap it's great.

I'm glad somebody mentioned Futurama. That's what I'm anticipating. And I think without the extra length of the movies, they'll have a more concentrated period of time to focus on the funny. I still loved the movies though.

The canceling of Firefly was ridiculous, its first and only season was amazing.

Watched a couple episodes of Dexter last night. Not bad, I'll watch a bit more today when I get my work done.

just watch the wire, but be warned - it'll leave your expectations of other tvs shows much to be desired i.e. LOST/characters

Avatar- The Last Airbender. Best animated show of all times.

Been watching Dexter over the long weekend, love it. Started out a bit slow in my personal opinion but got awesome a few epsiodes in.

Also checked out the first episode of Sons of Anarchy, also seems like a great show especially since I really liked the shield.

I recommend anyone who likes x-files/fringe to watch this:

How can I put this in this best way possible? It was Fringe, before Fringe and was a hell of alot better in the pilot than fringe ever was, its a shame, the show had great potential.

Global Frequency is a comic book published by Wildstorm Productions, created and written by Warren Ellis. It is a science fiction series set in the present day, in the genre of "rescue fiction", consisting of single-issue, standalone stories. The first series of twelve issues was published between October 2002 and September 2003. Each issue was drawn by a different artist, with uniform covers by Brian Wood.

The Global Frequency is an independent, covert intelligence organization headed by a former intelligence agent who uses the alias of Miranda Zero. There are reportedly 1,001 people on the Global Frequency, forming an active smart mob communicating by specially modified video mobile phones through a central dispatch system coordinated by a young woman code-named Aleph.

Global Frequency television series for 2005 with Michelle Forbes as Miranda Zero, Josh Hopkins as Sean Flynn, Jenni Baird as Dr. Katrina Finch and Aimee Garcia as Aleph. The characters of Sean Flynn, an ex-policeman who accidentally stumbled on a Global Frequency mission and Katrina Finch, a brilliant scientist with expertise in multiple fields, were created especially for the series.

Unlike the comic book, which had an ever-changing cast of field agents, Flynn and Finch were to be regulars along with Zero and Aleph, with other Frequency members coming in as and when necessary in supporting roles. This would allow for the character continuity expected of a television series and yet allow other characters to be killed off as in the comic book.

A pilot episode, based heavily on the first issue of the comic book, was produced, but WB (the original intended network) did not commission the series. John Rogers was the principal creative force behind the television incarnation, writing the pilot episode, with Ellis credited as producer and creator. Other writers waiting to come on board included David Slack, Ben Edlund and Diego Gutierrez. The pilot was directed by Nelson McCormick

thought i'd resurrect this topic because a few people mentioned wanting to but having not watched twin peaks.

I just rented twin peak's first season and so far have only 2 episodes left to watch and I'M LOVING IT!

Admittedly not much of the inherent weird creepy **** expected of lynch has turned up yet. I expect more of that come season 2 (where apparently the show goes downhill halfway through). The show has some great writing and it has kept me guessing all the way through. The first season is only 8 episodes long but i've watched 6 out of 8 since i got it just last night! So yeah i HIGHLY recommend it :D
