How can the English be so f*cking fanatical about soccor? It's absolutly crazy. You wlose and you have a riot because you're so pissed off and just pissed and when you win you have a riot because you're so happy and pissed. I saw the end of a soccor match the other day and there was a little boy crying in the stand because the team lost a game. Aswell if there's a match you have to divide up the town and the surrporters, you get none of that sh*t in Ireland. All supporters from both sides walk side by side to match and only pissed idiots start fights who quickly get the sh*t beaten out of them. We had an English man over and we brought him to a hurling match and he was absolutly amazed to see both side's supporters walking together. Until I saw riots in England over matches on the news did I believe anything like that could happen. It's absolutly crazy.

Don't generalise :p thats just the stupid thugs who go. And what about you :p your irish, your ALWAYS fighting over bollocks :p, quiet you :p

It's funny because the opposite is true. And Ireland consumes more tea than England per head and England consumes more alcohol that Ireland per head.

Yes :(. Well im out of here as soon as possible, wales and Ireland are so much better then England. I don't know about scotland though :D thats a crazy place

lol Europe.

We have our moments too though :[. Basketball riots. But that's like.. not as often as English sports riots.

England is going to hell, I'm not staying to see what happens.

joule, I'm coming to live near you.

All other football except Austrailian and International rules (Irish and Ausies will know what I mean) are crap in comparison to Gaelic Football.

Yeah, we've a strange obsession with football. Ah well, glad I don't share it

Well, I've got a few points.

Firstly, what about the Scottish? There're just as fanatical about Football. It's not just all the English. Rangers and Celtic fans are quite fanatical.

Anyway, when was the last time you saw a riot in Britain over Football? I haven't recalled one this year. In fact, one of the few times we saw any trouble, it was in Italy.

As for crying, you have to. Obviously they aren't just crying because their team lost any old match. They're crying because their team lost a really important match. If you put a lot of effort into supporting your team and then find out they are going to get relegated, then you're not going to be happy.

football ftw, up the reds............man utd i mean, the only reds :O *equips flame shield*

One things that does irratate me is people who just support the popular teams - i.e. Man U etc.

(If they live in or near Manchester etc. that's ok though)

While we're talking stereotypes, how are the potatoes this year? Had any drunken Guinness barfights yet? We get none of that in England

It's soccer, by the way (a game that I don't care for, and I'm English).

At least we do our fighting over something important like football, instead of something stupid and ridiculous like, say, religion...

Maybe because Ireland are shit at Football? ;)

In all seriousness though, yeah, some people do take it too seriously. Footballers also get paid too much.

Well why don't we have that kind of stuff about our most popular sport, football, Gaelic footgal that is. I have met English people and they have confirmed that they actually do divide a town over a big soccer match, I can't even imagine that.

So what about the Scottish? Internationally, the tartan army is renound as the freindliest fans out there.

Rangers and Celtic? No thanks. :|

Don't judge all of england on football maniacs, like I said I'm english and couldn't give a flying **** about football ;)

I'm saying that Football obsession isn't just an English invention.

EDIT: and the Rangers/Celtic rivalry is quite strong. Which is what I'm getting at. It's not all the effing English.

That is (beleive it or not) more of a religious rivalry other than the fact both play in Glasgow. But I'm not touching that with a 10 foot pole.

But it's still a rivalry to do with football teams!

ROFL! If you're English, and you just said you dont do your fighting over something stupid like religion, you must not know your history very well. I can name the thirty years war off the top of my head, want a few hundred more? You Europeans have been fighting each other and others for centuries over religion, step off the high horse.

You guys know I'm just messing ;)

I still find it amusing that the majority of white Australians can trace their roots back to English convicts. :)
