Tomorrow will be revelation day for SiN 2 but I have obtained some information ahead of schedule for you all courtesy of Eurogamer:

The feature then turns its attention to Ritual's tweaking of the Source engine. First up is what’s being termed 'Context Look', which essentially gives the game the ability to script NPC conversations on the fly. In other words, characters will know what Blade is looking at by where you're pointing the mouse cursor and be able to respond dynamically.

Elsewhere, the AI has been tweaked with some location damage enhancements, so that enemy AI will, for example, be able to fire back at Blade even if they've had their legs shot out from underneath them, while NPCs will help drag wounded back to their feet and so on. Enhanced object handling is also promised, with items pivoting from the players' hands rather than 'levitating' in front of them like in Half-Life 2. This is set to have gameplay implications, Ritual promises, with players able to grab objects and position them with precision and set up cover points.

But perhaps the most interesting implication of Ritual's decision to go for broke on the Episodic Gaming front is that fans themselves will be able to influence the progression of forthcoming episodes. Apparently players will occasionally be forced into making choices, and depending on how the community reacts as a whole, certain things will change in the next. For example, if you choose to save a key character their appearance may well be different in the next episode than if you had chosen to leave them to fend for themselves.

With Ritual able to track exactly what players choose to do, the way is clear for the community to have a direct influence on how the eventual plot plays out - with the potential for players to replay sections to influence the direction. Interesting indeed. Ritual's creative director Robert Atkins seems unsure to what extent it will have an influence, though, admitting in the PC Gamer interview "Right now it's a concept we're going to implement, but we don't know to what level yet. We figure the fans are going to help us out." But to be clear, there is not going to be any obligation for solo players to contribute, with an 'opt out' option provided.

In essence, your actions can actually influence the course of events through the subsequent episodes of the game.

if they truly do that with the episodes they will be true pioneers, and hopefully something like that will become popular, a real chance for gamers to actually influence their games

SiN was a great game back then, hope this will be too. Anyone know when itll be released ?

All of that stuff is already done in mods or can easily be acheived.

I was hoping they would put some graphical improvements like a new lightign model.

I live in the UK, Pc Gamer has an exclusive with screens and everything. Looks really really nice. Can't wait.!!!!

According to the mag it's introducing some cool things. When in a vehicle you can swap from drivers to passenger seat and lean out of any window.

Just wait till the shots in the mag are online, they are AWSOME!

Heh, SiN was the game that got owned by Half-Life back than (the first release was full of bugs, remember?).

I'm not believing any of the features they say will be in the game, Until I play it myself.

I remember the original SiN had something similar to this. I finished the game thinking I had seen everything, when I saw my mate playing it and he was doing these entirely different levels featuring a missile launch and shit.

NO SCANS PLEASE! That includes requests. Whether or not you plan to do it in public, or in private, we don't want to know about it. Just don't do it.

Anyway, the Eurogamer article contains all the information they read yesterday morning out of PC Gamer UK. PC Gamer UK were the first and only people that had discussed SiN Episodes with Ritual. This means Eurogamer re-wrote the PCG article in their own words. Not sure exactly what you'd classify that as, but I wouldn't be pleased :(

I like the idea of Episodic Content. Imagine...SiN 2 Deleted Scenes/Alternate Ending. They can completely do that without having people to buy anothe CD.

I hope they plan for a box version for us dumbasses with the five six k. Other wise I put a hex on Ritual and Valve.

I hope they reconsider using Steam.
Steam's an acceptable program... but... I wouldn't want EVERY game to start using it.
It's just too much of a pain in the ass.

I had tons of problems with STEAM when it first came out but now it seems to be working fine. Alot better then having to download every single update from different sites and install them myself, thats for sure.

agreed²

I think Steam is still a little way off from perfect.

Bandwith speed is my biggest gripe, it's so damn slow.

Well you try setting up a system when you have 100,000 users and hell even more...all doin stuff.

I have PC Gamer. The screenies look pretty average. Nothing that really makes you go "wow".

I've not read the article yet, but it seems like there's a lot of interaction, like in a car you can open the glove compartment, play the radio and "pop the clutch".

AI...AI...AI...
It never works out the way it's suppose to - I mean the Combine soldiers weren't exactly as brilliant as Valve promised us...

Worked out for me. Flanked me, went after me. Suprised the hell out of me sometimes. They may not have been able to hit you real good, but they did use hand signals and things like that.

I hated HL2's AI.
It was fairly basic.
No dynamic AI whatsoever.

Yeah me too. First time round i didn't think much of the A.I.

After i played through it again a few weeks ago it really surprised me as they were kicking my ass.

Still you can't expect much truth from previews now-a-days as they all tend to exaggerate and overhype the games. I remember when RTCW was about to come out and they were saying how amazing the A.I was supposed to be. Yet it totally sucked.

I enjoyed Sin a great deal when it was originally released. However, things have moved on so much since then that it is going to take more than a name to get me excited. Hopefully it'll be a great game.

(what i'd really love is a new Shogo in Source. Imagine fighting through the streets, ducking behind cover from tanks and snipers - and then you climb into your massive mech, and they all become as tiny as ants! Then suddenly another mech comes around the corner! *better calm down* :))

Oh man, That would kick ass!

I wish I could play the original again... It never works correctly for me anymore.

They are as good. Your just not giving them a chance :p

Why's it so damn cartoony? Reminds me a bit of Time Splitters.
