Here are two player models for Rivals. They aren't skinned simply because we have no one to skin it. Anyone up for a challenge?

For those of you who don't know, Rivals is an action crime mod based on movies like HEAT, Reservoir Dogs, and Desperado.

Enjoy.

dunno why, but they seem a little basic.... Could be better if with proper skin thou, as you mentioned.

anyways, not a modeller myself, should STFU. :(

hehe, theres no problem with commenting on other peoples models if you aint a modeler yourself, if anything it gives them an opinion from an 'outsider' if you know what i mean.

anyways, the mesh looks nice and clean ( but cant say the same for the render :p ). my only niggle is his feet and trousers. his feet look a tad big and his trousers are like ankle swingers, as well as being very straight. just a few creases in them would make it look better i think...unless they've been starched :)

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

horrible jpg compression!

lol, look nice, well proportioned.... wireframe maybe?

I can't pinpoint it, but something doesn't look right about that coat... maybe it doesn't overlap enough where you button it, maybe it isn't long enough I just can't tell. The feet look a little flat.
Good work though, polycount?

Not that bad looking of a model man. Like that one guy said though, the feet are too big.

Sorry for the bad pic. Thanks for the comments guys. I will let our modeller know about the things you pointed out. Thanks guys. :)

i dunno the feet seem ok, looks a bt cartoony face though

*Hint* LOD SYSTEM *Hint*

I don't think I have seen any modeller make one yet.... all these weapons as well. I havn't seen anyone of them with a 3rd person model...

isn't the LOD automatic ? HL2 will have that i heard ? of edleast 3DSmax hase that aswell, i don't know, never used it, so all you need to do is model 1 version, and then let them auto. turn lower poly (HL2/3DSmax.?) i could be wrong ... :)

How would it do something like that? That would be some trick.

isnt that in the Battlefield tools. i am yet to use them, but they have an automatic LOD mesh thing like described i think, but even if thats true, i dont think it takes long to delete a few polys and weld verts, which would probably give you a better end product than if you rely on a (dumbass) computer to do it :p

hehehe, that would be magic :O if u thin k about it. A computer doesn;t know what to get rid of and what not. So no. You have to model and texture all 7 versions. This is what you get when you think you can away with 5000 triangle models :p

cant you just use mip-maps for the 7 textures ? and just unwrap all the versions on top ?

proberly. But the whole point in the LOD textures is to get rid of radiant light and bump maps. So it shouldn't be that hard. Also its even that hard to bring your model down if its strucuted correctly. The only hard one will be the last one which is proberly like 500 and your proberly best just remaking both the model and textures because it will be vertually a cs model :p

I think they are 7 levels of Texture detail and 3 model details. Not sure. can;t exactly say I have used the engine or know what I am talkjing about. I know they are definatly 7 of some LOD system though. Its the same with all prefabricated models. They all have LOD systems as well. Some people seem to not notice this though and think they can make all these 8000 triangle player models and 3000 weapon models. I can't wait until the engine comes out and they get like 2fps :D

this isn't really on topic, BUT, for ****s sake IchI type decent goddamn english. You are having your arse kicked in grammar terms by people from across the globe.

I like the models, but if you ask me, the arms seem to hit the shoulders too far down, and the body seems too small...

But maybe that's just me...
