1) I belevie that someone within Valve has helped in the process of leaking the source code for half-life 2, i remember reading that soem how 3 - 4 computers got something insatlled on them when nobody knew, possilly when nobody was in the room with computer, someone i belive has diverted persons or people away from there computers when the hacker who i beleive is in ether valve or possibly ATI, has installed the software,
these persons or people have be diverted away from there computers at the times were the hacker has installed the software to allow them access, you tell me how elese could you insatll with out someone been on the computer, especaially a programmer, that would reasile in seconds right,

2) somebody has been treated unfairly possible, i wouldn't know, and wanted to get beack at valve maybe.

3) SOMEBODY AND MAYBE 1 PRSON FROM VALVE AND ONE PERSON FROM ATI HAS HELP IN THE LEAK, I WOULD GIVE IT A GOOD 70% CHANCE.

IT IS KNOW THAT MAN IS CORRUPT AT THE BEST OF TIMES, YOU CAN NEVER TRUST ANYBODY 100% NOT EVEN IF THEY HAVE BEEN YOU FRIEND FOR 40 YEARS.

I THINK THE FBI SHOULD INVESTIGATE THE EMPLOYEES OF ALL COMPANYS ASSOIATED TO HALF-LIFE 2, ANY SOFTWARE THAT HAVE BEEN LICSENCED TO VALVE, THOSE OMPANYS SHOULD BE TO INVESTAGETED, CUZ THERES I HIGH CHANCE THAT THE HIGHLY TRUSTED, HIGH ATHORITY PEOPLE WITH IN VALVE OR ATI, HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT, MAYBE 1 PERSON OR 2.

A hacker makes use of exploits, or creates his own to get into a targets system. There is no need to physically go into the valve office and install any sort of programs when they have the ability to do it all from the safety of their PC.

Even if there was a possibility that someone actually went into the office and installed the keyloggers etc, I sincerely doubt that it was one of the Valve team. These guys finance their own games (from their own pockets), they don't rely on publishers such as EA to front up the money (therefore they decide when the product is finished - better quality). Any employee helping to steal the source code would only be hurting himself in the long run and I just can't see the logic as to why they would want to do that.

YEAH TRUE I SEE WHAT U MEAN MAN,
YEAH VALVE WOULD DO IT, IT WOULD ONLY HURT THEM SELFS, I AGREE MAN.
THANX FOR TELLING THAT NEVER THOUGH OF THAT,
YOU MAKE SO SO SO MUCH SEENSE THANX MAN

Aaannnd...... That just about wraps it up for this highly entertaining thread. I couldn't agree more with the last two posts. Roger out.

Spitdocfry did it!! we're on to you buddy!!

Sound awfully well planned.

There is only one man who can pull of such a plan... And we all know who that man is...

I can't believe that this is true (on the other hand there are some people that said they looked at the source code that sounded like they knew what they where talking about).
The way this happened is like leaving your car open with the key in the ignition (or already the engine running) in the worst neighborhood of town - wich will get you for insurance fraud if it is stolen and you want to collect. How the people of valve can bitch and moan about this leak under those circumstances is beyound me.I'd curl up into fetal position, stick a thumb in my mouth and keep nodding my head for a couple of years if I was responsible for the network setup and security they have in place.
Anybody that uses steam on his machine after this got to be braindead.

In reply to the 1st Post by KyleBn, and the 3rd respond also by KyleBn..

Does it amaze any of you just how completely moronic this guy is?

hehe I re-read both those posts.. and I just laugh.. its ridiculous to think someone would click SUBMIT to a post that was written like that

Paper-bag-on-head-with-smelly-crotch-man?

pretty sure that it was all done via the internet, as gabe has pretty much confirmed.

there are plenty of explinations on how to do without physically needing to be there

last i heard a playtester had access to something or something, but who knows

I bet 3dRealms stole it for DNF so they can release it sometime in the next 300 years
