On one of Gabe's slides, in refrence to the release of the benchmark application, he writes:

Available to you September 30 for testing upcoming hardware and drivers.

Ok. Confused.

Why would you release a game and a benchmark util on the same day?

And if you did, why would a reviewer publish results from this benchmark program when "real" benchmarks would be available from the actual game?

And if not, Does this mean the game isn't going to be released on time?

Why would you make a new thread when there's 10 already open on the topic?

It's doesn't mean the game is delayed.

The benchmark is a standardised test that gives results. Reviewers can't use Half-Life 2 to test hardware because different things will happen in Half-Life 2. The Benchmark will always run the same.

I don't remember asking for anybody's sexual orientation.
But I guess it will good for you to get out of the closet.

I am sorry, but I don't bat for that team. Maybe you should stop by some gay matchmaker sites. They might be able to help you out.

it just means you don't know anything about it. the game itself is not usable as a benchmark, as it uses a level of detail (lod) system to keep your system at 30 fps (by changing the detail of the models etc.). they don't want to release a benchmark before 9/30 because they don't want to spoil anything (mentioned many times). so releasing the benchmark the same day is just perfect.

guys the masterbating jokes don't make sense out of the thread

But then wouldn't the benchmark be invalidated due to the fact that it is different from HL2. If the CPU / Graphic card isn't pushed to the same limit as in the actual game then the results will not correspond to the real world application.
