Ok, I just ran doom 3 timedemo and got 39.5 fps, I had these settings:

High settings, 4 AA on res 1024x768

So I found this site : http://www.elitebastards.com/page.php?pageid=6201&head=1&comments=1

It has benchmarks from x800 PRO and it got 39.5 fps at the same settings.....

they used this machine:

- AMD AthlonXP 2500+
- 512Mb PC3500 DDR-RAM
- ABIT NF7-S v2.0 nForce 2 motherboard
- IBM 40Gb hard drive
- Pioneer 16x DVD-ROM
- 350W power supply

Ok I got the same score as they as you see and here are my spec:

1024 mb PC2700 ddr333 ram
x800 xt pe
3.06 Ghz P4
i845GE

Now how did that happen? I am using Cat 4.8

My first question is how do you check how many pipe lines your card has?

And can anyone explain me if possible why I got that much fps when I should get much more?

what is ur vid card

ur cpu is bad

they had faster ram

d3 hates ati, those nubs

Like the person said above, their RAM was far supperior than yours. Have a nice day!

How is his cpu bad? 3 ghz is well above recommended for D3 and will outperform the 2500 on pretty much any benchmark.

The memory will be a bottleneck and slow your computer down somewhat.

Yes, my cpu isn't bad. Its their that is.

Can RAM really cause that much trouble? I mean same in CS:S and pretty much every other game.

Afraid so, its bit like when a highway suddenly turns into a single lane road. You have your mighty fast GPU pushing out data which is getting stuck in your memory.

Pentium 4's have been known to need the best memory and dual channel to perform good. The Netburst design needs that bandwidth and also lower latency to stay on par. The Athlon XPs were pretty good against the Pentium 4's with 533FSB anyway. Granted they have an Athlon XP 2500+, they do have very quick memory while your bandwidth will be lower.

But I bet you it is simply a optimization issue. Have you looked for some consol settings to speed up D3?

Its not just doom 3, its every game.

I found out that its my psu thats causing this(100 people have said that but now I'm believing it :), when I get it and Abit IX7 MAX7 it should perform much better (thats in 1-2 days). But if it doesn't help, I'll come back and call for some more help :)

Btw Asus, when I bought my comp last year I got that RAM with it so I guess it should be enough for that cpu.

Yeah, your FSB is 533 so your memory will fill your bus. Although if you OC your FSB to 166 or 200MHz (666 and 800 rated) you will get a pretty good increase in performance.

Good to know, I'll try it when I get that mobo. With the current I can't overclock anything except my graphic card.

Just remember, it might be a good idea to lock your memory with a ratio so it doesn't limit your OC.

sorry I don't understand, how do you do that?
